Graphic a Day, 27 May 2011

Today’s Picture of the Day (POD) at RichardArmitageNet.Com is dedicated to Sophie:

Here is your Graphic of the Day:

Sir Guy Art

Guy is art. Today’s POD is again beautiful. What else is new?  😀

To start this graphic, I extracted Guy from his background and removed most of the flecks of the white stuff that wasn’t snow.  I only saw that episode once and can’t remember what it was.  You have to understand that I watched Robin Hood for ogling reasons only and not the storyline!

I skipped off to RichardArmitageNet.Com to browse for some more images to include.

Beautiful Guy of Gisborne 1 Beautiful Guy of Gisborne 2

I masked out (erased) most of the foliage but kept some for atmosphere.  Then I applied various filters using virtualPhotographer from optikVerve Labs.

For the background, I chose Van Gogh’s “Starry Night.”

Van Gogh Starry Night

I placed the water reflections portion of the painting over a solid tan layer, changed the mode to Lighten and lowered the opacity. Then I duplicated the painting layer and rotated it so the stars would intermingle with the reflections.

Next I merged the layers and cut out the corners with the Rounded Rectangle tool.  Finally, I added the text “Sir Guy” using the P22 Monet Regular font with a slight Outer Glow effect.

I wonder if Van Gogh would’ve done a portrait of Guy if they were contemporaries — and if Guy was real!

  1. Very Game of Thrones-y in that pic!

Wow, I didn’t even think of that, falafelandchips. I’ve not seen that show except clips so I wonder if it slipped into my subconsciousness.

  2. judiang says:

SQUEEEE!!! Siiiiigh. Another lovely siggie. But then that’s Sir Guy’s default, isn’t it? Great job BccMee, I’m said this month is coming to an end.

  3. judiang says:

That’s “sad.” Proofreading isn’t my forte as you might have guessed. Sigh.

  4. OneMoreLurker says:

Graphic of the day is of Sir Guy, yayyy!

I don’t remember what those white thingys were, I think it wasn’t snow. If you have Guy S3 on screen, following the plot is not the main priority ;).

*blushes* Thanks for your good whishes.

    OML 🙂

  5. Smithylass says:

Lovely! Isn’t that when Robin, Guy and Much have just escaped from the tunnel trap? You put such a lot of work into these graphics, they are great. When you first see the pod, do you have a final image for your graphic that pops into your head and then you create it with all the layers etc, or do you experiment with a few different looks first?

    • bccmee says:

I don’t really have a system for making my graphics although I seldom start out with a plan unless it’s one of my more whimsical siggies, Smithylass. Usually I start out by extracting the POD, then seeing how the spirit moves me, LOL!

  6. Ania says:

Indeed today’s POD is again beautiful and your graphic is also gorgeous!
I love the way you change the optics of these pictures.

  7. tyme4t says:

Nicely done! 😉 This “Guy” always provokes such lovely thoughts *happy sigh*

  8. Eressea says:

I requested this POD specifically to see what you would come up with :). This is just perfect, not what I would’ve expected – but then I didn’t know what to expect – so a lovely surprise too.

I can’t recall either from what scene that pic comes from. I think it is beautiful and sums up Guy perfectly. Like you, RH isn’t really my favourite show, aside from Sir Guy’s scenes. I did enjoy Keith Allen’s performance too though.

Thank you so much, this has been a great month and I’m sad it is drawing to an end.

    • bccmee says:

It’s always nice to hear from the person who requests the POD, Eressea. I also enjoyed the sheriff in seasons 1 & 2. So glad you enjoyed the month so far. 🙂

  13. Summer says:

I think we all saw Robin Hood for one single reason….some Guy of Gisborne drooling!! 🙂
Very artistic graphic, a totally different concept than the original pic. Me likey! 🙂

  14. Suse says:

as I have enjoyed all your graphics since the beginning of May I just want to thank you for all your efforts. I have been looking forward to a new pic each day (usually after a accessing the POD on RichardArmitageNet.Com first) and I’ve loved them all. I would find it really hard to name a favourite. I very much hope that you’ll go on creating some more graphics, if not on a daily basis perhaps once a week???
    Thanks again

    • bccmee says:

Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting, Suse. I’m sure I’ll do some graphics on an occasional basis. I’m a madwoman who can’t be stopped. 😉
