A minute of Richard Armitage – Peter Jackson video blog #3

Last night Peter Jackson uploaded his third Hobbit video blog. You can watch the entire thing on his facebook page.

Richard Armitage appears for about a minute in total and I took the bits in which he is speaking and pieced them together for you so I could transcribe just his lines.

I urge you to watch the entire 13-minute video blog because Richard Armitage appears throughout. Also, check out servetus’ blogs for her screencaps and commentary.

First a screencap:

Thorin Guy Monet

Thorin Guy Monet

EDIT: There are lots of high-quality screencaps of Richard Armitage as himself and Thorin at RichardArmitageNet.Com!

Here’s your video:

And the transcript:

Thorin: We need to move now! Come on!

Richard Armitage: We’ve all learned a  bit of the dwarf language, “Khuzdul.” So we all have a selection of words to fall back on. Curses and battle cries.

Richard Armitage: If I could say key moments, in block 1, arriving in Rivendell and meeting Elrond and dining at his table. It really feels like you’re stepping into Middle Earth.

Richard Armitage: We’ve been here since January the 13th. So what is that, 5 months?  And we haven’t even scratched the surface.

James Nesbitt: Who are you doubling, Pete?

Peter Jackson: I’m doubling Stanley Kubrick.

Richard Armitage: One of the biggest moments was when we all put our gear on. And we all stood together.  Sort of looking around at each other into the characters’ faces. Stand in a circle and look at the guys going on the quest. I got a real tingle up my spine.

In that screencap, it looks like Thorin is channeling Guy and Monet. What say you?

Thank you, B! Since I can’t access FB from work, I’m so happy to have found this vid in your page: you are a gem! @–>
Love the Thorin/Guy/Monet pic… if only they hadn’t messed up with his NT! 😦
    M_T

  2. Paramjeet says:

Richard just seems to exude gravitas from every pore!

  3. Sandra Gomes says:

I have a tingle on my spine too! Since last Friday with the ProjectMag photos and it hasn’t left yet!

Oh, this is too much awesomeness for my poor heart 😀 😀 😀

Thanks for the video, bccmee, you’re the best!

  4. CDoart says:

Thank you, bccmee!!! Did I already mention that you are wonderful ;o)

  5. Maria Grazia says:

I’ve seen the entire vid while my students were practising their grammar online. Sssshhhh!!! Don’t tell anybody, especially my boss 😉
Yes, shouting Thorin reminded me of Gisborne. Not so much of Monet.
I also love the interview bits a lot. Natural hair colour and no make-up. 🙂
    Thanks for the transcript, bccmee!

  6. Tedgirl says:

Magnificent job! Thanks again for the vid & transcript in full RA glory……..!

  7. Ania says:

Thanks Bccmee, it’s so nice to hear his voice 🙂
(I watched a video at work, unfortunately without sound).
Answering your question similarly as Maria Grazia Thorin reminds me more Guy. However I think that RA will create the new quality ( mark) of character, which can’t be compared to any of the previously played by him.

  8. Lady Rose says:

LOL! He totally does look like a smush of Guy and Monet! Thanks for posting!

  9. PoliCBA says:

    “Thorin Guy Monet”? Haha!

I haven’t watched The Impressionists yet, but, judging by the screencaps I’ve already seen, from The Impressionists, yes, there’s something of Monet and Guy in Thorin.

Richard is so going to be a remarkable king of the dwarves (and who could imagine that, eh?). 😉 The intensity of his look, his deep and strong voice… Middle Earth is never going to be the same 🙂

    Thank you, Bcc Mee!

  10. Carolyn says:

    Thanks, Bcc! You’re the best!

  11. Phylly3 says:

Definitely see the Guy series 3 here, not so much Monet unless you mean the facial hair. But his voice is more rough than either of those characters. Definitely a man on a mission!
Thanks so much for saving me the time of seeing the whole video. I will later, but no time today! Company is coming!

  12. My first thought was Guy, but after seeing ‘Monet’ under the pic, as well, I have to agree that I see that, too! Love it!

  13. IngeD3 says:

Yes! The rough look is Guy S3, the lighter hair and facial hair is Monet and the new voice is specific to Thorin, as I’m sure the final look will be. Absolutely loved PJ’s video blog, I’m so happy to see how this movie is being made, but also to see how much RA is enjoying his time in Middle Earth!
Wow, this week has put my brain and heart into Richard overdrive… but I’m loving every second!!
BccMee, thank you so much for all the work you do with the videos and transcripts – you’re a star!!

  14. Ana Cris says:

    Thanks Bccmee!

  15. Grace says:

Thanks so much, BccMee! You’re always the best in culling out just the important Richard bits. Who knew that a little over a minute of Richard could be so fabulous? I guess we’re all just breathless with anticipation for seeing and hearing him. He looks magnificent as Thorin! And he sounds fierce! Hhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Thanks and best wishes, Grace ;->

  16. love4ot says:

    Thanks for the great vid!

  17. Lynn says:

Thanks, you’re a doll to do this for us.

  18. bccmee says:

Thanks for all your kind and supportive comments. They mean a lot to me!

As for the Monet comparison, perhaps it’s more noticeable in this picture:
