Graphic a Day in May 2012 – Day 31

Welcome to our final graphic for the May 2012 challenge. Hope you had fun. I sure did!

Since I didn’t post in any order, if you missed your graphic you should be able to find it by typing your username in the Search box on the right. The box might not be visible on a mobile device. 🙂

Today’s image of Richard Armitage as Sir Guy of Gisborne was contributed by jeanniegisborne. She recommended the song “Again” by Flyleaf. Jeanniegisborne wrote, “Here’s the song. I know you know it.” She is clearly referring to the fact that I used this music for a North & South fanvideo. 😀 By the way, jeanniegisborne is a fanfic writer: http://www.wattpad.com/user/JeannieGisborne

Here’s your screencap from Robin Hood season 3, episode 9:

Here’s your graphic of the day. It’s a 1600×900 pixel wallpaper. Please click for full size.

This graphic is another instance of something else “taking over.” Maybe I’m possessed by Guy, LOL!

The first thing I did was to apply the Oil Paint filter in Pixel Bender for Adobe Photoshop CS5 64-bit. The effect was quite subtle. Then I cut out the Guy figure and applied a Drop Shadow effect. The prison bars behind Guy blended into the background and I wanted to give them some depth so I cut them out and added a Drop Shadow to each of them. To make them look rounded, I added a line of light with a soft white brush to each bar.

For the background, I added a cement texture above a gray layer. Then I applied the Luminosity blend mode to make the cement texture look gray instead of pink.

Then I used a rough brush to erase bits of the foreground image around the edges to make it and the background merge together. Finally, I added the word “injustice” with the Black Castle MF font and the Drop Shadow, Outer Glow and Satin effects applied. The choice of caption came from the song lyrics.

I also created this siggie:

If you and Guy escaped from the Nottingham Castle dungeon together, to where would you flee? What would you eat? 😛

That wraps up the Graphic a Day in May for another year! Thanks for all your participation. 🙂 Tomorrow we’ll have a debriefing session. See you then!

    Oh my Guy… OMG…. It’s a fantastic siggie Bccmee, bravo ! 🙂

Jeannie, your pic makes me swoon… 🙂

    Answer to your question :

We would go as far from the Sheriff as possible. 🙂

Eat ??? Eat, when your are with a sex bomb like Sir Guy, is not a priority, lol lol lol.

  2. lovemrthornton says:

First of all, these graphics every day this month have been so fun. You’ve put so much into them, and as an RA newbie, I’ve enjoyed learning about more of the characters that I haven’t seen on screen yet. (Looking forward to seeing some of these other films now!)

I’m still in the beginning of season 3 of Robin Hood, so I probably won’t look at comments after this to keep the surprise of this jail cell ending alive, but because of your graphic this morning, can’t wait to get to the end and see what happens. Wow.

As for the poignant question of the day ….

the French Alps seems as good a place as ever, given Sir Guy’s obvious French heritage (practical, safe and if we lived in Medieval times, we could invent skiing and make a bundle of money training the nobles on the slopes)

…. and a lifetime menu of French cuisine and dancing on tables after bottles of French champagne. After all, if you escape from a dungeon, it’s time to live, isn’t it? 😀

Thanks, BCC, this was fun this month!

  3. Fantastic indeed! It makes me feel sucked into his dark side …. great choice of pic Jeannie.
Now, if Guy and I escaped from Nottingham I would probably go to Majorca for some well deserved holidays and I wouldn’t waste my time eating …. 🙂
Thank you so much Bcc for, once again, sharing your skills, entertaining us during a whole month and therefore contribute to make this RA drought so much bearable and funny.

  4. Emma says:

Series 3 Guy was my favourite, so great choice, jeanniegisborne!

Thanks again, bccmee, for all your work all month long! And for giving us the lessons in how they were all made. You are very clever, creative, and talented! My siggie was, of course, the best 😀

  5. Elaine says:

Escaping with Guy…..sigh……oh, it would be heart pounding excitement at its best. Food? Sorry, it would be the furthest thing from my mind.

What a great month of siggie fun this has been. Kudos to you bccmee and all of the contributors for the stellar music and photo suggestions.

    Cheers, everyone!

  6. Faboamanto says:

Love both graphics Bccmee! Using the wallpaper now, love the dark, troubled, look of it. Great choice of pic and song jeanniegisborne. I’m sorry to see May come to an end, will miss the Graphics a Day! Thank you Bcc for all the gorgeous graphics and getting us all to participate in this project and for the questions every day.

If I escaped with Guy I wouldn’t let him go! I think we would escape to France, Guy’s former home, a holiday in Paris? What would we eat? Chocolates, luscious dark chocolate of course, and drink champagne to celebrate.

  7. Well, I wouldn’t get killed right off the bat, that’s for sure! *sigh* Reformed bad guys… is there anything hotter? 😀 Nice pic!

  8. tyme4t says:

    Another great one! Well done.
Guy & I would flee to the ocean, set sail for a new life on a distant shore…………..

  9. Judit says:

I’m so sorry this month is over! It’s been great fun! Thank you ever so much for all your hard work and dedication Bccmee! And what a fantastic sig for the last day. from my favourite episode of RH. RA has never been more beautiful. Where would I escape with Guy? To Italy.. We’d settle down somewhere around the big lakes, Lago di Como, Lago Maggiore or Lago di Garda.. Would be a long journey but with a travel companion like Guy it would be a breeze! 🙂 As he’s so good with his bow, I’m sure he’d have no trouble procuring food for our dinners! And I’d be the dessert! 🙂

  10. Jennie says:

What a wonderful climax to a brilliant project……every single piece of artwork has been superb…..and one a day! What dedication!

I’ve been thrilled by graphics you’ve created and have learned so much in trying to follow the steps you’ve outlined.

I take my hat off to you! And thanks to your other readers for nominating such great images!

  11. Jeannie, romantic and addicted to rock LOL!
The wallpaper is really dark and gloomy, but I like Sir Guy S3 this way!
I would flee to Venice with him, of course, as he is already dressed as the perfect pirate of the Mediterranean LOL!

Thank you for another fantastic May. See you soon for your next project

  12. cdoart says:

Is it wrong of me, to find Guy in prison beautiful? ;o)
What an injustice. Thank you, bccmee and jeanniegisborne, for the wonderful wallpaper and siggie!
I would take him to Bavaria with me and feed him with a delicious ‘Schweinsbraten’.

  13. Hi Bccmee and Jeannie,
Loved the image, wallpaper, and siggie! I’ll have to listen to the song, too!
I would also flee with Guy to France–far away from England. And if Guy were mine, he could eat anything he wanted to–from Cornish pasties to chicken crepes, and chop suey to chicken parmesan, etc. Though a light picnic fare of bread, cheese, and fruit chased down with wine would be a nice start. Sighhhh!
    Cheers! Grati ;->

  14. Ania says:

WOW! Another great wallpaper. Love it! Thanks!
Answering a question. It doesn’t matter where we would have fled, it’s important that far away from the Sheriff. Besides, being with Sir Guy anywhere will be fine.;)

Bccmee, I regret that May has only 31 days. It was a pleasure to enjoy your talent every day.♥ But also it was a fun to find suggestions of ladies with wonderful RA’s pictures, and listen to beautiful songs. I’d never heard some of them, if not your May Challenge. So, thank you ladies for broadening my horizons. 🙂

  15. jacqui_coinyard says:

Thanks for all the great graphics, snaffled and printed a few.. 😉

  16. jacqui_coinyard says:

We would flee to a save place and I’ll let Guy do the hunting for food cause that is not my trade! Oops but I’m supposed to be vegetarian?! Maybe we can catch some fish?

  17. Carolyn says:

Hard to believe this month is gone already! Thank you for all your hard work! I love the Guy wallpaper!

  18. jeanniegisborne says:

First of all, thank you B, for this lovely siggie! I have saved it. Now to see If teresaarmitage can size it for a timeline cover photo 🙂 Thanks also for plugging my fanfiction 🙂
I would take Guy on a tall sailing ship where we would sail the seven seas together. We would stock the ship with the finest cuisine and all the best California wines. I hope this picture shows up. Guy makes a lovely sailor.

  19. dharrison75 says:

I haven’t really got further than an inn under assumed names or the inevitable barn… 🙂 I can’t see Guy too far out of Nottingham. Maybe plotting in Normandy for a bit, but just biding his time to return & take power in some way. I can’t imagine him hiding out far afield living a simple humdrum life…

  20. ItsJSforMe says:

Another great wallpaper, bccmee!! Well done 🙂 Terrific choice of cap, jeanniegisborne!

Thank you, bccmee, for doing A Graphic a Day in May. Your creativity continues to astound me. I love how you give a brief rundown on the way you constructed each of the graphics so beginners like me can be made aware of different techniques and ways they can be applied. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!! 😀

And a big thanks to all who contributed images and songs for bccmee to work with. Hasn’t this been a ton of fun? I’m sorry that the month has come to an end!

  21. beengizzied says:

Injustice Team 31? Incredible angsty Guy!
Bccmee, you are at the end of your contract so it’s time to find the plug, drizzle the heady scented oil and submerge with a looped compilation of good bits from all Richard’s audio work in your ears.
And as for my escape with Guy … well, music is the food of love so we’d play on- like an [angsty] marriage made in heaven:

  22. Holliday says:

Another job well done. I enjoyed this month with all the graphics. I’m kind of bummed to see it end. You are very talented. I saved every graphic you came up with to my computer(for further perusal of course). I enjoyed answering the questions you put to us as well.

I would escape somewhere warm with Guy, where I could get him out of his leather. I can’t think of any food in particular, but it would have to be something to help maintain strength and stamina.

  23. OMG! Lovely wallpaper.I’ve already saved it.Thank you Bcc for one more fantastic work and Jeannie, you know how to please your friends. Beautiful Guy pic. Thank you, too! In fact, Bcc, this is one of the most beautiful giggie of this month !( I guess I´ve I said it for myself several times this month) but seeing Guy so sad and alone in that jail broke my heart. If Guy fled with me, I think he would need a calm place to rest of all problems that his sister and the sheriff caused to him.So I think that a great place for this could be in a beautiful cottage in Suiss Alps ! Only we two, alone in that desert place.

  24. Summer says:

Not telling!! LOL Just a hint..”eating” would not be in our agenda 😉 LOL

  25. mersguy says:

Thank you Bccmee and Jeannie, such wonderful choices. Cant wait to see what is next B! ♥ Escape with me to Bali Guy, we can swim, drink cocktails and laze under the palm trees. I’ll massage you with coconut oil…..grrrrrrr getting carried away now LOL.
Enjoy the w/end my friends ☺

  26. Teuchter says:

This has been an amazing month and in a few moments it will be June here too as it already is on most of the world. It’s been a great ride ladies, mostly due to your amazing talents Bccmee, but also to all who have taken part. It’s been a pleasure to have been a part of it all! What a wonderful way to end, jeannie, with the beautiful Guy. To have another wall paper as well as a siggie makes it extra special. 🙂 I wonder what you will have in store for us next!! 😀

I think Guy should come here!! Great scenery, wonderful food, terrific wines and moi!!!!!!!!!!!

  27. Thais says:

Great! Thank you so much, Bccmee, for a lovely month! It was magical having a new creative siggie every day! Well done! 😀 And thanks everyone that contributed with wonderful suggestions!

  28. bccmee says:

@Everyone: Thanks again for all your fascinating comments! Ooh, nice choices of destinations and cuisines with our Guy!

Hmmm, if Guy and I escaped together, I’d want to go to Londinium so we can be anonymous in the big city. We can live in some old Roman ruins. Or Paris since I’d love to hear him speak French to me. ♥

Any food tastes fine in the right company, have you noticed?
