Graphic a Day in May 2012 – Day 21

Welcome to day 21 of A Graphic a Day in May 2012.

Today’s image of Richard Armitage as Lucas North was submitted by Ana Cristina. Thank you, Ana Cristina! You can find her on twitter with the username @KristAraujo.

By the way, I would like to remind you that I am not posting our graphics in any order. For example, Ana Cristina was #4 in the queue, but I’m posting hers on the 21st! 😀

Here is your base image:

And here’s your graphic of the day:

Ana Cristina recommended the song “Bring Me to Life” sung by Evanescence.

This is our first animated gif of the month. If it doesn’t play for you, please try a different browser such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc. Remember that animated gifs will only play in your browser and not your computer’s photo viewer. 🙂 Also, animated gifs will not play if they are resized. Other than those differences, you can save and use them as you would any other image.

To start this graphic, I cut out the Lucas North figure. Then I chose to put him against a skyline so I found this image for the background:

I wanted the lights to blink on and off so I used copy & paste or the Clone tool to create a new “dark” layer above each set of lights. Then I opened the Animation panel and set it to Frame Animation. I made sure all the lights were off for the first frame, duplicated the first frame, and then turned several of the lights on. Duplicated that frame, and revealed more lights. I did this for a total of nine frames and set the timing for 1 second each. Finally, I used the File > Save for Web & Devices command to save it as an animated gif.

There seemed no need for a caption! Hope you enjoy this animation. I honestly believe Richard Armitage has the best profile of any actor. ♥

Can you think of an original superhero role for Richard Armitage? And how does Lucas North power the lights on and off?

  7. Faboamanto says:

Ah, I love Lucas. Thank you Ana Criistina for such a lovely pic and song. Bccmee, you’ve done it once again, and Lucas can turn my lights on anytime.

An original superhero role? My knowledge of comic book heroes is limited, and the ones I know from when I was a kid have all been done (Superman, Batman, Spiderman).

Lucas powers the lights with a special MI-5 device powered by his gorgeousness.

  8. Judit says:

What a super-gorgeous Lucas photo, thank you Ana Cristina! Loving the eyelashes!*swoon* 🙂 Totally agree with you Bcc, RA has the best profile ever!!! Not keen of comic book heroes to be honest. The only superhero role I can imagine RA playing is Wolverine of X-men but that role has already been taken! 😉

  9. Judit says:

Oh, and I think the Evanescence song is quite simply perfect for Lucas’ character! Great, great choice Ana Cristina!

  10. Chrissy says:

I Love this …. as I love Lucas!! The twinkling lights are give it an extra special touch too. Great choice of pic, great siggy. XX

  11. jasrangoon says:

Bccmee, you’ve outdone yourself! This is such an awesome graphic.

  12. The city is safer thanks to agents like North!
That’s the meaning of your beautiful graphics today to me.
    Excellent choice of picture AC!

  13. jeanniegisborne says:

Anna Cristina, I love the pic you chose for Lucas and the song is just right 🙂
What a fantastic animated siggy, B! It is fabulous! Your artistry knows no bounds!

  14. Kathleen says:

Ah, there is something special about RA in a pea coat! Wonderful picture choice and these graphics just get better and better! Another great one!

As for the super hero, I would have to choose the Green Lama:

  15. Tanni Tani says:

Yes, I really like it and my favorite photo of Richard

  16. cdoart says:

This time, I must admit, it took me some time to find your siggie, bccmee. Ana Cristina, your choice of picture was just too distracting ;o)
What a wonderful city Spook. I miss Lucas!

  17. Carolyn says:

    Beautiful siggie of luscious Lucas!

  18. Holliday says:

This came out awesome. The lights are cool.

As for a superhero, I’m not well versed in comic books so I say a UK Avenger, John Steed. He’s a bit of a superhero. Kinda, sorta. :0) I can see why Judit suggested Wolverine though. I’ve often thought Richard and Hugh Jackman look alike.

    Twinkle, twinkle little spy,
    Your life really went awry.
In a prison for eight years,
You wore a hood, I shed some tears.
    Twinkle, twinkle little spy,
I prefer to think you were the fall guy!

Excellent Lucasy artifact Team Day 21.

  21. ItsJSforMe says:

  23. Hi Bccmee and Ana Cristina,
Great image of Lucas, lovely song, and fantastics siggie! The dark of night seems so totally appropriate for Lucas–especially since he came into our collective conciousnesses under the cloak of night as he emerged from 8 years of hell.
    Cheers! Grati ;->

  24. Oh, My !DeLuicious Lucas! Fantastic !Thanks Ana Cristina for this ” belíssimo” Lucas and to you,BCC for this extraordinary job!

  25. Mariana says:

WOW WOW WOW….beautiful Lucas, beautiful city, beautiful song. Wonderful choices Cris and Bccmee ♥

  27. debra says:

    BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fantastic lights!!! Fantastic subject!!!!!!!

  28. bccmee says:

@Everyone: He’s deLIGHTful, he’s delicious, he’s deLUCAS! Lucas North is so incredibly beautiful. ♥ Great idea to have an MI5 device that lights up a city with his gorgeousness! This blog feels safer under his watchful profile. 😉

Interesting choices for superhero characters, although in retrospect, I should have asked for superhero powers. How about his dazzling eyes being able to melt his opponents? They already have that effect on me. 😉

Thanks again for your comments! And a poem for Lucas too. 😀

  29. Ania says:

I love the lighting effect 🙂 Brilliant!!! 🙂

  30. titianminx says:

    AMAZING……Music, graphics,effects. It all works perfectly……EVERYTHING……STUNNING

  31. Teuchter says:

A day late in commenting, but I guess better late than never, as the saying goes! Again the graphic and music go so well together! I think your skills have gone up another notch with this one Bcc! Lucas in profile is absolutely gorgeous as usual!! 😀 I always gasp when I see pictures of him, somehow, as he looks so amazing!

  32. Beautifully done…all it needs is a pretty damsel beside him and it would make an amazing book cover! 🙂 Lovely post, as always!
