Graphic a Day in May 2012 – Day 10

Welcome to the 10th Graphic a Day in May!

Our screencap is courtesy of tyme4t. Today we have the lovely Lucas North. ♥ Thanks very much for your contributions, tyme4t!

Here is your base image:

And here is your graphic:

Who do you think you are?

The background of the original image was interesting and added to the story and I kept it after cloning out the bit of Maya. The window blinds demanded some light so I drew a diagonal line with a soft white brush and blurred it. Then I duplicated this line several times and moved each line down and lowered the opacity.

Next I added the caption, which came from the song “Jar of Hearts,” sung by Christina Perri. I had the idea of the “ransom note” style and considered creating the letters from scratch but decided instead to cut out newspaper images. I found several clippings through a Google image search. Below is just one of them:

I used the Polygonal Lasso Tool to cut out the letters and added a slight drop shadow. Finally I applied a half-tone effect to make Lucas and the background look a bit like newsprint.

The music chosen by tyme4t makes a perfect theme song for Lucas.

So, who do you think you are?  😉

AWESOME!!! I am grinning from ear to ear on this one. You totally picked up on the line I thought that would work well in a siggie/graphic. Love it! 😎

    • bccmee says:

@tyme4t: You picked a great song and screencap! It was so much fun making this graphic and I thank you for your excellent contributions! Yes, the man is a mystery wrapped in a gorgeous package. 😉

  2. Emma says:

B, love what you did with the background, especially the light coming through the blinds. It makes for a much better and brighter picture. Perfect choice of music, tyme4t! Not only do I really like this song, but It really suits series 9 Lucas and his conflict of suddenly becoming John whatshisname, which, of course nobody believed, but Richard did an amazing job transforming into. Well done, both of you!

  3. cdoart says:

What a great window and shadow effect, bccmee! I love what you have created from the quite dark and foreboding original image! Thank you, time4t and bccmee!

  4. Faboamanto says:

You know I love Lucas, and I love this graphic Bccmee. Says so much. What a perfect combination of character (in S9) and song tyme4t

Who do I think I am? Probably not who others think I am.

  5. Luciana says:

Very good! You gave more light and new life to the picture.
Answering the question… among others things, I’m someone cRAzy for Richard!!!

  6. Judit says:

Great choice of screencap&song, tyme4t, thank you! And thank you again, Bcc for the wonderful job you did with it! You are so creative! As for your question, who do I think I am? I’m an Armitage addict, pure and simple and I’m very grateful for it too! 🙂

  7. Chrissy says:

Im so thrilled with this – Lucas is one of my favourite RA characters. Great choice of pic tyme4t – and I love what you’ve done with it Bccmee.

  8. Jennie says:

Bee…I love this! Well it is Lucas isn’t it! The light through the blinds is inspired! I love the ransom note idea too! Very clever!

Who do I think I am? Apart from Being an Armitage addict I have no idea….I have so many pseudonyms! LOL

  9. ItsJSforMe says:

mmm John Bateman! *looks around to make sure judiang isn’t watching so she can wave her JB flag* Great cap choice, tyme4t!!! 😀

I love how you handled the lighting effect, bccmee, and the ransom note lettering is perfect for this graphic! Your creativity continues to blow me away.

  10. titianminx says:

Fantastic. You are so clever B! “Ransom” note lettering great idea. I have enjoyed all the graphics during May. Cheered me up. Thanks.

  11. Teuchter says:

BRILLIANT!! I’m amazed all over again by your creative talents, Bcc. Using the ransom note idea was truly inspired. Even though I found the whole premise for series 9 really disturbing, Richard managed to draw me in once more by his awesome performance. You have really enhanced the scene with the changes you have made to the original. The song choice was perfect too so thank you both.

Who do I think I am? Well apart from being an Avid Armitage Admirer, it’s hard to say!! I wear many different hats! And don’t we all wear “masks” of some kind from time to time? I just love being able to be my own silly self now and again! 😀

  12. Ania says:

Oh, Bccmee, today’s graphics is the quintessence of Spooks9 *sigh* and I love every detail. Great choice of pictures tyme4t! Thanks both of you!
Answering the question. Since when I’m a fan of RA, I’m definitely a girl who, in the heart and the head has less years than in the ID card. 😉

  13. Carolyn says:

Your graphics are amazing! Love the window and light effect.

  14. magwi says:

Love your choice of John Bateman for a subject tyme4t, and good choice of caption bccmee. I had to giggle at the ransom note style of caption – so apt for JB :D.

Well done on another great collaboration. ♥

  15. Snicker's Mom says:

That is so neat! You are so creative.

  16. beengizzied says:

Nice job Team Day 10. I think John’s theme song could be Good Charlotte’s I Just Wanna Live.

The world just wouldn’t cooperate. Poor confused man. At the end he’d even lost his Lucas dress sense.

  17. jeanniegisborne says:

Thanks for Lucas tyme4t. Good song too. B, it’s great! 🙂

  18. Holliday says:

I love the song and it’s perfect for this pic. I love what you did with this pic.

  19. Hi Bccmee and Typme4t,
Lovely image and siggie! Such angst in Lucas/John’s face in the siggie, it is heartbreaking. The man needs a shot of bourbon, a neck massage to relax his tense muscles, a warm bubble bath to soothe his cares away, and the love of a good woman–not necessarily in that order.
Uh Lucas, when did you say you were coming over? Ha!
    Cheers! Grati ;->

  20. tyme4t says:

Glad so many of you like the song I picked! I must admit when I listen to this song, I “hear” it from Maya’s point of view towards John….and then I picture the scene where he asks her to close her eyes and she can’t resist him any longer. And she doesn’t care who he thinks he is! http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/Spooks/Spooks9/album/episode3/album/slides/3_239.html

Ah Bccmee – you know I love these collaborations! I know I am a person who is so gRAteful to have this community of RA fans to share some time, creativity and fun with!

    • bccmee says:

@tyme4t: That picture and the *kiss* are quite bReAthtaking! ♥ She is drawn to him like a magnet.

I too could not be happier with our collaboration projects. Thank you so much for your active participation! 😀

  21. april73 says:

    Great pic choice Tyme4t. 🙂

Bccmee, I love your siggie, particularly the phrase “Who do you think you are ‘”. It fits perfectly with the character of Lucas North… or should I say John Bateman ? lol

  22. jacqui_coinyard says:

Whodoyouthinkyouare? Lucas vs John. Oh I get it now! Great sig really creative, well done.

  23. jacqui_coinyard says:

I have no idea who I am apart from being a RA supporter!

  24. bccmee says:

@Everyone: Great answers to the question “Who do you think you are?” LOL re: “less than the years on my ID card.” I think my birth certificate has a typographical error. Maybe I should take it into Photoshop and fix it. And I too am definitely a Richard Armitage fan if anyone hasn’t yet deduced that. 😉

Delighted you enjoyed the ransom note and lighting and tyme4t’s inspired choice of music which provided the perfect caption for this graphic. Lucas still looks good even though he indeed lost his “dress sense.” Whoever he is, he definitely needs help from someone stronger than Maya. I’m sure there are candidates out there! We all seem to agree that despite the absurdity of the season 9 plot of Spooks, Richard Armitage did an amazing job.

Truly, I very much appreciate your comments and all your support! 😀
