RA flags of the world project

Hello! Hope you had a lovely Easter/Passover weekend. I sure did.

Thanks again for all your support of our guest bloggers of late: beengizzied and “son of RA fan.” And of course I so appreciate your great contributions for our RA Dictionary. I’m thrilled with your extensive vocabularies! 😀

Screencap courtesy of RichardArmitageNet.Com

Since we come from all over the world, united under our support of Richard Armitage, I have conjured up a new collaborative project idea.

If you’d be so kind to help again, I ask that each of you submit a favorite picture of Richard Armitage or one of his characters and a flag of your choice. It can be your country’s flag or any flag of your choosing. It’s all right if more than one person chooses the same flag as long as the RA pictures are unique. For instance, if several of you submit the Polish flag, that’s perfectly fine for this project. 😀

Please remember that everyone is welcome to participate! If you are new, please feel free to join in!

As most of you know, I live in New York City in the United States of America. I feel very fortunate to be living in my favorite city in the world. One of the things that appeals to me is how international this city is. We even have the United Nations here!

So here’s the criteria for this project:

1. Please submit an image of Richard Armitage or one of his characters. Paste the link in the comment box below. Your image can be a link from your favorite RA fansite, such as RichardArmitageNet.Com or from your own stash on photobucket, imageshack, flickr, etc.
2. Include a link to an image of your flag and a brief description. That way, if I need to find an alternative image, the description will make my search easier!

Here’s an example:

I really look forward to your submissions and thanks again for your help!

The deadline is Wednesday, April 11, at 12 noon New York City time. Our project will be completed by next Monday but hopefully before then. 😀

See you soon!

P.S. I’d like to warmly welcome two new blogs to our happy community. Both of these bloggers were gracious enough to write guest posts for me while I was on my cruise.

1. April’s Violet is a French blog currently featuring fan fiction by april73: http://aprilsviolet.wordpress.com/.

2. Ania has created a Polish/English Richard Armitage blog: http://zrysiowana.blogspot.com.

EDIT: The deadline has passed. Thank you for all your lovely contributions! We’ll have our project posted Monday at the latest and hopefully sooner, as I already mentioned. 😀 See you soon!

    Hi Bccmee,
A new project of yours is such a treat to our Monday! 🙂
    http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/Spooks/spookspromo/album/slides/series8-15.html
Since my two fellow Brazilians already have submited our country’s flag, I chose the flag of the state where I live, São Paulo:
    http://www.suapesquisa.com/estadosbrasileiros/bandeira_sao_paulo.htm
(flag of São Paulo state, Brazil)

    • bccmee says:

@Fabi: There are so many favorite pictures of Lucas, and this is one of my top choices! ♥ Thanks for the cool flag of your state too!

  6. Hi BCC, I hope you had a pleasant Easter! Mine was very good!
This project sounds intringuing. I’m trying to imagine how you are going to match flags and pics.
Of course, the Italian flag is due!!
    http://twitpic.com/957it2

As a screencap, I would have Lucas this time (Sir Guy forgive me!), of course, the one with the Italian mocha LOL!!! http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/Spooks/spooks8/album/Episode6/slides/ep6_029.html

PS: Best wishes to our new lovely bloggers! Dear April, I didn’t know about your stories! You should have told me!!! Anyway, I subscribed immediately!! You rock, girl!

    • bccmee says:

@Carla: Thanks for your kind words. Great crinkly Lucas picture, yay! Yes, we need the Italian flag represented! LOL re: Italian mocha! 😀

    • april73 says:

Thanks for your lovely compliment Carla and for your subscription to my blog. 🙂

Sorry, but the blog is in French, but Bccmee is using a translator to read my stories and it must be good because she understand perfectly what I write.

Bccmee, I will look for a picture tomorrow for this new challenge. 🙂

  7. Ania says:

I’m very intrigued by your new project. 🙂
This is one of my favorite picture of Richard:

    P. S.
Bccmee, thank you very much for recommending my blog.*hugs*

    • bccmee says:

@Ania: I’m delighted to support your wonderful new blog! I hope to be a regular visitor. 🙂 Thanks so much for your gorgeous Richard Armitage “No Escape” picture and your Polish flag!

  8. cdoart says:

Hope you had nice Easter days, bccmee!
I am looking forward to your new project and here are my contributions:

Picture of John Mulligan (Was a hard choice ;o) : http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/MovingOn/album/Moving%20On/slides/MO_050.html
Bavarian Flag (Would still never hiss the other ;o): http://www.flaggen-server.de/dland2/bl_bayern_mw.png
    found at: http://www.flaggen-server.de/dland1/01bl02.php

    • bccmee says:

@cdoart: John Mulligan is my favorite “bad guy.” 😉 Thanks for the Bavarian flag. The name reminds me of Bavarian cream. Is that wrong? 😛

      • CDoart says:

Yes, Bavarian cream is very famous for Bavaria, though I must admit, I never made the cream myself. But it is delicious 😉 Bavarians just like to eat well and have a sweet tooth ;o)
I even once read a version of the story, how the name “Bavarian cream” came into existence and the writer based the fundament on a young noble woman from my village which went to the court in France as part of the entourage of a future queen and took the recipe with her from her home and made it famous that way. (Though I would think that was either wishful thinking by the writer of the story or a not further researchable legend ;o)

  9. Carolyn says:

I have to choose a pic from the first interview that I saw him in. Although I was intrigued by him in N&S, it was watching him in this interview that made me fall in love with him!

  10. Delia LaFanetta says:

    • bccmee says:

@Marian: Such a lovely Lucas picture! Mmmm. He looks so good with the stubble and the blue lighting. Thanks for your Italian flag too! I appreciate your contributions. 😀

  12. jasrangoon says:

What a cool idea bccmee! Since so many of us are American’s I thought I’d go with the flag of Myanmar, one of my favorite countries in the world.

And if no one has picked it already, I just love JP in his scarf. 😉

    http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/nands/album/episode2/slides/ns2-224.html
    and http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/cz.html
Hi Bccmee, reason for my picture of John Thornton is that i love, love and love his conversation with his mother and changes of Richards face as he wish to express feelings of John.
And flag of my country. Have good day!

    • bccmee says:

@Pospíšková Irena: That scene with John Thornton and his mother is so touching. *sigh* Thanks for your screencap and your flag. As you may know, I was lucky enough to visit the Czech Republic a few years ago and loved your country!

  14. Elaine says:

    A favortie pic from RichardArmitageNet.com: http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/Hobbit/HobbitPressConf/album/slides/PressConf-05.html
and the flag of Newfoundland, Canada. I was born in Newfoundland and even though I live in Ontario, Canada – Newfoundland is where my heart is.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Flag_of_Newfoundland_and_Labrador.svg

    • bccmee says:

@Elaine: I totally remember going off the deep end after seeing that press conference with Richard Armitage in the beard, LOL! I know full well what you mean about where your heart is. New York City is my spiritual home and I’m glad to be living here. 😀

      • Elaine says:

I’m looking forward to visiting NYC for the first time at the end of June for a couple of days with my better half – it’s a surprise trip that he booked without me knowing. How sweet is that?!

        • bccmee says:

@Elaine: Ooh, I’m excited for you. I don’t want to impose on your holiday, but if you have time for a cup of coffee when you’re in town, I’d love to meet you and your husband. 😀 No worries if that won’t work for any reason. I just want to let you know I’m willing and able! And yes, it’s very sweet of him to surprise you that way!

  15. Teuchter says:

Wonderful idea Bcc!! Here is my choice

    http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/Spooks/spookspromo/album/slides/series7-47.html

I give you a choice of flags! A Canadian one because this is my home and a Scottish one – the land of my birth!! 🙂

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Flag_of_Canada.svg
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_Scotland

BTW if you scroll down on the Scottish flag page you will see a picture of St. Andrew who, as legend has it, was martyred on an X shaped cross. Does this remind you of a certain John Porter picture?? 😉

  16. mersguy says:

    Fantastic idea bccmee!
I had to think about which photo to include, then the choice was obvious. The Hobbit press conference! The start of a magical adventure that will change Richard’s life and fandom forever!

    Here’s my suggestion: http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/Richard/EventsandAppearances/NYCScreening-20July2011/album/slides/NYC-13.html
And here’s a Brazilian flag (another one!): http://imagejuicy.com/images/country-flags/b/brazil/2/

  19. phylly3 says:

You have me very curious about this project. I know it will definitely be world class!
Here is my picture of RA as himself reading a children’s story on Cbeebies. Nothing could be more adorable (for me!).

And here is the Canadian flag.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Flag_of_Canada.svg
If you don’t want to repeat it, here is my provincial flag,
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Flag_of_Ontario.svg
or the flag of my neighbouring province, where I like to visit quite often:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Flag_of_Manitoba.svg

  20. Hi Bccmee!
I love this idea! We are Global Team Armitage!

    Here is a URL for a U.S. Flag: http://us-flag.net/images/US%20Flag%20Flying.jpg

Picking a Richard Armitage portrait is a little bit harder. Ha! But, I am very fond of his “I’m channeling Thorin” Project Magazine portraits:

    1) Here is the portrait where he is doffing his coat:
    http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/Richard/Promos/ProjectMagJuly2011/album/slides/ProjectMag-05.html;

    2) or if that is already taken, you might try this portrait of him on the stairs, sighh!:
    http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/Richard/Promos/ProjectMagJuly2011/album/slides/MattHolyoak-36.html

    Cheers! Grati ;->

    • Brooke says:

I love your choices! The gray suits him. Ok, please tell me that you are inspired by those photos for your future stories. Hehe.

    • bccmee says:

@Gratiana: Your phrase “Global Team Armitage!” is so apt. 😀 Thanks for the choices of pictures. As you can plainly see, I love the coat photo since I use it in my banner. ♥
