Welcome, welcome! This idea has been brewing for awhile and I decided to post it now, even before it’s fully cooked, LOL! If you’re willing and able, we’re going to work together on a project called “Words and Pictures.”
It’s long been known that our dictionaries do not include enough words to describe Richard Armitage, his talent, and his characters. So we have had to make words up. One example is the word “chesticles” which means “Richard Armitage’s bare chest.” 😀
So here is your challenge. If you can think of a word (or phrase) that applies to Richard Armitage or one of his characters, please post it with a link to an appropriate image in the comments box below. Also include a short definition. This word need not be of your own making, but it can be one you saw elsewhere. 🙂
The deadline is Monday, March 26 at 12 noon, New York City time.
Here’s an example:
http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/RobinHood/album/seasontwo/Episode3/slides/rh203_104.html
If you have not yet played before, please feel free to jump right in. “All comers, all welcome!” 😀
I really look forward to your contributions. Have fun and good luck!
The results of our collaborative project will be posted sometime next week. Let’s see, shall we? 😉
EDIT: Your contributions need not be in English. All languages are very welcome!!!
NOTE: Thanks for all your submissions. The deadline has passed so please check for your results by Saturday at the latest. I hope to have one bonus post between now and then. 😀
Armirousing: the art form of suducing all RA fans!
http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/StrikeBack/album/series1/Episode4HD/slides/ep4hd_022.html
@Bettina: Wow, great contribution! I haven’t heard the word “Armirousing” before so it’s an extra bonus for me. Thanks very much!
@bccmee: Glad you liked it! Somehow I can’t get that “pet name” out of my head when I see that hunkilious man! Have a great weekend! Thanks for all your hard work on your website! LOVE IT! (;
Sorry, my brain just is empty after a crazy week ;o(
And my suggestions like fan-tastic and extRAordinary do not really extend the dictionaries. Furthermore, all pictures of RA would match those words, so I don’t have a distinct suggestion, yet. I must think some more ;o)
@cdoart: I completely understand what you mean about a fried brain, LOL! Perhaps you will think up something by Monday with any luck! Hope you have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by. 😀
@cdoart: P.S. I do hope you find some pictures and definitions to go along with your suggested words. 🙂 I would hate to see them go to waste and not be used in the project. 😀
Hello bccmee,
not to let the words go to waste, I searched for my most fan-tasticissimus moment:
http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/Richard/EventsandAppearances/OutsideRadio1_170910/album/slides/Radio1-09.html
RA signing autographs (with that smile he gets every heARt RAging)
ExtRAordinary he is quite always, so this was really hard to select. But he is so extRAordinary, that he even needs a special warning written on the wall next to him:
http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/Richard/Promos/2010Promo/album/slides/Apr2010-McGorty-02.html
RoyAl (hard to guess why, when even the crown just jumped into the picture and on his head on its own ;o)
http://kingrichardarmitage.rgcwp.com/2011/08/15/announcement-of-king-richard-week-battle-of-bosworth-re-enactment/king-ra-010-nyc-13/
@cdoart: Brilliant! Thanks for all your help. Your “RoyAl” entry made me laugh out loud! 😀
Smiritage: That look Richard gives when Sir Guy is being smug.
http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/RobinHood/album/seasonone/episode4/slides/rh104_002.html
@Jeannie Gisborne: OMG (Oh My Guy)! I’ve not ‘eard the word “Smiritage” either. I must be hanging out in the wrong circles, LOL!
I meant Smirkitage 🙂 I just made that up as well as the next one 🙂
@Jeannie Gisborne: Then I owe you double congratulations! Your new word is already being misspelled, LOL! Duly corrected, thanks. 😀
Or another word… A Smirkgisborne: The Guy look.
http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/RobinHood/album/seasonone/episode1/slides/rh101-057.html
@Jeannie Gisborne: Woohoo, you’re on a roll. Loving the word Smirkgisborne!
Smouldertage: Anytime Richard looks seductively into the camera with his deep blue eyes and everybody sighs 🙂
@Jeannie: Oh nice! Do you have a picture to illustrate “Smoldertage”?
What a great idea!!! For obvious reasons I’m out this time… I just can’t ‘play’ or create any word in English, but I’ll love to see the result of this project!!!
@Luciana: Actually, I encourage contributions in all languages! It would be cool if you could add something. 😀
I think that in an interview I heard Dawn French describe Richard as a “Guy of P-leather”… (my English is far from perfect because I’m French – not from her family – so I assume it was for “pleasure” ?) lol
@jos2507: Your comment is brilliant! I’m glad you explained you’re French but not Dawn. 😀 😀 😀
Thanks so much for playing and I am delighted with your contribution of the word “Pleather.”
If possible, could you please post a link to a picture? If not, I will find something suitable. I appreciate you taking the time for our little project!
tRAnfixous: the ability RA has to make womens’s jaws drop (THUD) and to pierce their hearts with his electric blue eyes (AAAH)
LOL! This could go on forever bccmee!
http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/Spooks/spooks8/album/Episode5/slides/ep5_253.html
@Bettina: Oooh, great picture, word and definition! Thank you again! I’m so excited about this project now. 🙂
I was just looking through some Lucas pics & realised I kept being drawn to the “crinkle” pics so my word is “crinklicious” 🙂
http://richardarmitagecentral.co.uk/v/Main+Gallery/Spooks+-+Lucas+North/Series+8_001/Episode+2/Spooks+9-MainGallery-Epi200991.jpg.html?
@Beachbaby: “Crinklicious” is a delicious and appropriate word. Do you have a definition to go along with it? Great screencap choice too!
Oops – helps to read ALL the instructions 😉
Crinklicious: highly pleasing ripples on Richard’s forehead
(mmm – think I’m mixing up my nouns & adjectives here…….)
Thank you. It was such a chore LOL – which crinklicious cap to choose. 🙂
@Beachbaby: Thanks for your definition! It has been added to the database. *giggle*
Tantalizage: Richard’s ability to tease and excite his admirers’ desires!
http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/ColdFeet/ColdFeet5/album/slides/coldfeet_059.html
Weekend is starting, since I’m getting NADA done at work! WAY too distracted! (;
See bccmee…I’m so distracted I forgot to put my info in…Tantalizage was my word!!!
ROLFLMAF (:
@Bettina: Well-done you! Thanks for all your great entries. You are very good at this game. 😀
Easy when inspired…words I do…the fabulous vids, I’ll leave up to you, my friend! (;
“Watching for the plot” – Gratuitous appearances of Richard’s body without clothes, which may or may not be integral to the actual plot, but we pretend it is anyway.
If you want me to choose a specific pic let me know, otherwise I’m just gonna leave you this: http://recycledvinyl.tumblr.com/tagged/watching-for-the-plot
@capaca: Nice phrase and very well-defined musculature, LOL! Thanks for playing. 😀 I’ll use a still of that scene.
This project seems to be a bit too challenging for me as English is not my natiive language. But I’m truly enjoying reading the comments and the new word inventions + gorgeous pics of RA!! Or is it just that it’s already 0:30 on Saturday here, after a hard week at work, and my brain isn’t functioning any more 🙂
@cristine: Hopefully you’ll think of a great non-English word to add to our project. 😀 I want this game to include everyone!
Has this been used before? Probably.
Armitageous
The disease we all catch after watching RA, especially in North and South
http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/nands/album/NandSPromo/album/slides/NandSPromo-16.html
Or – in another language one – Spanish:
DespRAmpRAnante = RA Stunning
http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/Richard/Promos/Recognisemag/slides/Recognise-4.html
Great idea!
@Faboamanto: Thanks for your lovely contributions! Wow, you win a special prize for posting a Spanish RA word!
This is a great idea Bcc. My english is not good,so I don´t know if I´ll get make up a word in time, but any way , I´m enjoying very much reading all the suggestions of my friends.Ladies, have a wonderful weekend!
Here we go : charmingtage ( it´s a mix of charming+armitage ).
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/692/snapshot6k.jpg/
@Tereza: Mmm, delicious picture and such a lovely word and definition. Thanks so much!
At first I thought you wrote “charmitage”, which suggests to me something like: Being burnt to a cinder inside (charred) from one of RA’s smoldering/smouldering looks.
Like this one:
http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/Richard/Promos/2006%20Victoria%20&%20Albert%20Museum/slides/VandA_18.html
@Stacie: Yes, “charmitage” is another great word! Let’s add that to our collection. 😀
Hi Bccmee!
This sounds fun! I contributed two terms to the RA lexicon. So here are pictures to go with them:
1) Guy-li-cious: Definition–An adjective describing RA’s irrestibly leather clad (or not) Sir Guy fixing us with his smouldering gaze–and we melt into a quivering puddle of womanly.
Picture: I like this picture because we see a hint of Gisborne “glutes”, despite Sir Guy looking at the sherrif in this instance: http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/RobinHood/album/seasonthree/Episodefive/slides/5_025.html
2) Be-Guy-ling: Definition–An adjective describing the trance like state that RA as Sir Guy elicits in us with his oh so sexy smirk. Some drooling is involved, on our parts.
Picture: http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/RobinHood/album/seasonthree/Episodefive/slides/5_084.html
Cheers! Grati ;->
For 1) that should read: melting into a puddle of womanly “essence”. Ha
@Gratiana: Lovely images and words and I thank you!
I made a sig with this word 😉
That siggie is lovely, Jacuqi.
Thank and Cheers! Grati ;->
I have to think on this over the weekend. What a fun idea!
@Snicker’s Mom: Looking forward to your contributions! 😀
RAilment: an illness that includes loss of ability to concentrate on daily activities accompanied by excessive thoughts re: RA along with the urge to create things in his honor.
http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/StrikeBack/album/series1/Episode4/slides/ep4_203.html
@Snicker’s Mom: Sufferin’ succotash, I am suffering from RAilment too! Thanks for the great entry!
Body Art – The body behind the tattoos of Lucas North
@Ana Cris: Lovely phrase and definition. Can you choose a favorite picture to go along with it? 😀
Hi, bcc,
For your project I will make this sacrifice! :0) Here is the picture!
http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/Spooks/album/ep1/slides/spooks701_034.html
@Ana Cris: A truly inspired choice of images! ♥ Thanks!
:0)
Insanity + Armitage = Insanitage – mental condition after knowing RA.
http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/RobinHood/album/Series1Promo/album/slides/1-21.html
@Luciana: That’s a great word and picture! ♥ Thanks for participating!
My word is “Richarding”, which is basically the activity of pursuing all things Richard Armitage, watching DVDs, fanvids, reading RA blogs, commenting on RA blogs, looking at RA photos, listening to RA audiobooks, etc.etc. I don’t have a particular photo to go with this word. 🙂 Great idea Bcc! Love,Judit
@Judit: Ooh, most excellent word! I’m delighted to add it to our collection. Thank you!
If you can’t find an appropriate picture, perhaps someone else will volunteer to help? 😀
Bccmee,
Thank you for a gReAt distraction while I was doing my house cleaning today, thinking on a word/picture to your project. 🙂
In Portuguese: arRAsador = devastating. It means how strogly is the effect of pictures like this on us, poor mortal women:
http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/Richard/Promos/ProjectMagJuly2011/album/slides/ProjectMag-22.html
Armitageitis: highly contagious and cureless disease. Any resistance is futile, specially to this:
http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/RobinHood/album/Series3Promo/album/slides/3-09.html
@fabi: Wow, I appreciate all your help! Two words, awesome! You’re the first person to post a Portuguese word! 😀 Thanks very much for your participation.
Bccmee, I think we have a problem. My language is Portuguese, but I’m from a former Portuguese colony, which is Brazil. If the flag is due the language, right. But if it’s due the country, could I have my own? Or maybe both, LOL. Thanks!
@fabi: No worries, I changed it! 😀
Typos alert: it’s “strongly”. Blame the effect, LOL.
Such fun! Here’s mine:
gRAzing – The time one spends browsing through pictures and articles of Richard, even if they’ve seen them a hundred times before
🙂
@Emma: Aw thank you for your great word and definition! 😀 gRAzing is a phenomenon I’ve experienced many times!
How about …
RAmBUNctiouS : A reference to Lucas’ nice buns and fans’ boisterous reactions to them
@beengizzied: I’m laughing with glee at your great contribution! I have to confess that RAmBUNctiouSness is one of my guilty pleasures!
Just in case you need any extras (btw, how do I make these stop OR turn this into my paid work?) …
RAssignments: RA assignments done when enrolled in RA School, like “Investigate RA in Speedos”
http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/ColdFeet/ColdFeet5/album/slides/coldfeet_020.html
RAified: When abstract notions of male beauty became RA shaped flesh and blood
http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/Richard/Promos/2010Promo/album/slides/RadioTimes_04May10-SvenArnstein.html
RAbies: A disease with symptoms including hydrophobia, excitation, fever and hypersalivation (frothing at the mouth) when viewing RA; previously thought not to exist in Australia or New Zealand until
@beengizzied: Wow, I’m thoroughly impressed with you using an image as a continuation of a sentence! Thanks again. 🙂
@beengizzied: LOL about your questions. I’ve never been able to staunch the flow of crReAtivity caused by Richard Armitage either! 😀 Thanks for your brilliant submissions!
Oops…forgot a picture. Here’s one of my favourites
http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/Richard/Promos/2007%20Promo/slides/ChrisFloyd01.html
@Emma: Thanks for the picture too, woohoo!
Very good project Bccmee. I don’t know if it’s good for you but I ‘ve a phrase :
The Richard voice is an arm of massive seduction.
In french (my language) : La voix de Richard est une arme de séduction massive.
http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/Richard/EventsandAppearances/OutsideRadio1_040510/slides/Radio1_08_040510.html
@Lady Prisca: Oooh that’s lovely! I think RA has the dreamiest voice. *sigh*
How would I write it as a phrase and definition in French? Here’s what I would put in English:
Richard’s Voice – an arm of massive seduction
Congratulations on contributing our first French phrase!
The definition in french :
Voix de Richard : une arme de séduction massive.
@Lady Prisca: Excellent, thanks! 😀
OK, here goes: http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/cbeebies/album/slides/cbeebies4_029.html
His look says: I dare you not to go Richarding while you’re supposed to be working!!! 🙂 And can I have a Hungarian flag please??? 🙂
@jhezser/Judit: That’s a great picture choice, thanks! Can you translate your phrase into Hungarian? Then you shall win your Hungarian flag reward. 😉
As an American who speaks only English, I find the other languages very exotic. 😉
You mean translate Richarding? It would be “Richardozni” in Hungarian. Hungarian is a pretty exotic language, I’d say! 🙂
@jhezser/Judit: Ooh “Richardozni” does sound very cool, thanks!
Thanks! I’m honoured to get the flag!!! YAY !!! 🙂
Great project Bccmee!!!
I don’t feel so well in my English to make a word in that language, so here is my sentence in my language: „Ryszard jest nieziemsko przystojny”, which means : “Richard is unearthly handsome” http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/Richard/Promos/2010Promo/album/slides/Apr2010-McGorty-02.html
And maybe one more word, I admit that I often define myself that I’m “zRYSIOwana” and means that I was charmed by Richard or have changed under the influence of Richard. “Rysio” is a short form of the name Richard. 🙂
http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/Richard/Interviews/Spooks_publicity/slides/thismorning26.html
BTW I’m from Poland 😉
@Ania: Thanks ever so much! I have always wanted to visit Poland and it is near and dear to my heart. ♥ Those words sound very lovely.
@Ania: Oops, I just noticed that someone else already submitted this picture: http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/Richard/Promos/2010Promo/album/slides/Apr2010-McGorty-02.html
Do you have another choice? 🙂
Wow, I got the flag 🙂 thank you!!!
Another picture hmmm is a difficult choice, lol 🙂 so maybe a different picture from one of my favorite RA’s photoshoot:
http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/Richard/Promos/2010Promo/album/slides/Apr2010-McGorty-05.html
@Ania: Mmm, delicious choice of pictures. Thanks for your hard work in finding another one. 😉
RA related sniglets, huh? Gonna have to think about this a little bit. And look, I can comment again!
@jazzbaby1: Hurrah, you can comment again! 😀 I look forward to your contributions. Haha, I remember the word “sniglets.” Wasn’t it coined by a comedian named Rich Hall? I wonder whatever happened to him.
Here another adjective for the most guylante man in whole planet( galante= gallant).I suggest too Guybeau.(beautiful Guy)
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/401/guylant.jpg/
@Tereza: That sounds really lovely in Portuguese! Thanks for your addition of great text and pictures!
@Tereza: I just noticed you submitted two great words. Do you have a second picture to go along with “Guybeau” ? 😀
Thorindependent: adj. 1. A love of the character Thorin is dependent on the actor playing him
2. The success of The Hobbit movie is dependent on RA fans (ha!)
3. Whether or not RA should shave is independent of the fact that he is no longer in character for Thorin
4. Beautiful eyes and a smooth voice are independent of other dwarfish good looks.
http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/Hobbit/HobbitPressConf/album/slides/PressConf-05.html
@Stacie: Wow. Just wow. Thanks for your really great and detailed entry with four definitions! 😀 I love that picture of Richard Armitage and it’s what I use as a base for my twitter avatar.
Hi everyone,
LOL, some words are really funny, I have to add to my vocabulary, just love it.
I´m in love with Armitage´s amaizing beautiful blue eyes = “blueris” = Blue + iris” 🙂
http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/StrikeBack/album/series1/Episode1HD/slides/ep1hd_008.html I took this beautiful pictures from the amazing web http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/
@angemar3: I’m delighted you found such a lovely and appropriate word to describe Richard Armitage’s eyes. *sigh* ♥ Thank you very much!
This is awesome
@Melissa: Thank you! Please let us know if you can think of a word to add to the game. 😀
“Armitaged” this is how I describe falling for the many charms of Mr A.
The moment I got Armitaged – ☺

No Aussie flag Bccmee???
@mersguy: I need a scorecard, LOL! Here’s your Aussie flag:
Yay, cheers Bccmee love it ♥
@mersguy: Excellent choice of words and definition! I can still remember the moment I was Armitaged. ♥
Ok, BCC, Italy has to attend the challange!
I’m not the creative kind concerning definition, but I found this that is funny and community-centered.
Armyllaring= looking for and creating connections in the universe of Armitage’s fans.
Comes from the Italian noun “Armillare” that is a special instrument used in astronomy to determine the position of stars and planets.
http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/Richard/EventsandAppearances/OutsideRadio1_170910/album/slides/Radio1-03.html
What do you think? Do I deserve my flag? LOL
@Carla: Oh thank you so very much for our first Italian entry! And you were thoughtful enough to include the etymology, brava! 😀 I love Italy, although I’ve only visited your lovely country once. Someday I hope to return. ♥
I’ll have a try don’t know if it is to silly.
You call it Crisps we say Chips and since RAs middle name is Crispin I’d say Crispy might be a nice pet name since there are plenty of women who find him as tasty ..as crisps..?
@jacqui_coinyard: That’s perfect! Can you please add a picture? 😀
Tried to find something, not the exact pic I had in mind
http://richardarmitagecentral.co.uk/v/Main+Gallery/Between+the+Sheets/Episode+6/vlcsnap-00632.jpg.html
BTW have never seen this show but heard a lot about it!
Love the entry’s from other country’s!
@jacqui_coinyard: I am enjoying the non-English entries too! I wish I could speak 2 or more languages! 😀
Just a little correction. The second adjective is Gisbeau ( this sounds bettter) e not guybeau.( Beau is french )but I think all know what it means.Bellow the picture for this word
http://my.imageshack.us/edit.php?url%5B%5D=840/4922/833880853/snapshoti38.jpg/y
Here another one: GARbogeous.( garboso from the portuguese + gorgeous) It can means someone very distinct, elegant, handsome, such as Richard Armitage.
http://my.imageshack.us/edit.php?url%5B%5D=824/4342/834398508/bafta2009cj3b.jpg/y
@Tereza: Nice work with two more entries in two different languages!
Hi Bccmee,
Just for you, I’ll add a phrase– “Pret a Porter”:
“Ready to wear” now becomes:
1) ReAdy: http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/StrikeBack/album/series1/Episode3/slides/ep3_104.html
2) Willing: http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/StrikeBack/album/series1/Episode3/slides/ep3_105.html
3) Able to sweep us off our feet, *swoon* *thud*: http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/StrikeBack/album/series1/Episode3/slides/ep3_106.html
Cheers! Grati ;->
P.S. And here’s a bonus: Oh yeah, Porter really knows how to activate my “armitageogenous zones.” http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/StrikeBack/album/series1/Episode3/slides/ep3_108.html
make that “Armitagenous Zones”. Ha!
@Gratiana: Woohoo, thanks for your additional contributions and bonus, heheh!
I hope I’m not too late…
If not, here’s my contribution :
http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/MovingOn/album/Moving%20On/slides/MO_036.html
With the French text : “A croquer…”.
Which means someting like that : “Delightful…”.
@April: You’re in time. Thank you very much for your French contribution! 😀
Great, thanks Bccmee. 🙂
PS : just for your information. This is the French flag. The Swiss flag is red with a white cross in the middle. 😉
@April: LOL! I was using the icon for the language, but here is your well-deserved Swiss flag:
Thanks Bccmee, it’s nice to see the Swiss flag here. 🙂

@Margie: Perfect picture with your appropriate phrase, thanks! 😀
May or may not have picked that John Porter pic for you! lol 😉
@Margie: LOL! Yeah not a big fan of the shaggy hair as you know! 😉 And Thorin may soon overtake JP as my fave chaRActer. You heard it here first! 😀
@Everyone: Wow thanks for all your incredible submissions!!! I will have our project completed by Saturday at the very latest but hopefully sooner.
By the way, the deadline has passed but if you missed out, there will be more challenges in the future.
I’m a bit stunned at your large vocabularies, LOL!
😀 😀 😀
Oh, am I too late? I’ve been sooo busy at work.(×_×) Sorry, but I’ll give it a try some other time!
I enjoyed every single new vocabulary here!
@grendel’s mum: Oh too bad we missed your vocabulary word(s)! Thanks so much for taking the time to comment. 😀
I couldn’t get here in time for this challenge, but that’s ok, Bccmee! So great pics and words we have here!!! Well done everyone! I’m looking forward to seeing the result!!! 😀
@Thais: Sorry you couldn’t play this time, but I think it’s very sweet of you to lend your support! I’m working on the project as we speak. 😀 Thanks for your lovely comment!
