Sexy Thorin

Is it just me, or does anyone else find Thorin Oakenshield sexy? I wondered what would happen if this Richard Armitage character graced the cover of a romance novel.

My sister suggested I put a hairy chest on the female dwarf, LOL! Unfortunately, I didn’t have time!

What if the author of A Bride for Thorin is using a feminine pen name, but his real name is J.R.R. Tolkien VI? 😉 Sounds like someone trying to cash in on his predecessor’s fame.

Just for fun, see if you can write a mini-bio and/or a blurb for the back of the book cover.

If anyone is interested, below are the component parts I used for this graphic. All images except one are courtesy of RichardArmitageNet.Com.

Hope you’re having fun! I would totally read this book, LOL!

P.S. Thanks for your assistance with yesterday’s Lucas project. The results have been posted if you missed them. 🙂 I look forward to seeing you tomorrow!

  2. Smithylass says:

“Author of Beardy Love” ROTFL I love it!

  3. Elaine says:

My suggestion for the back cover:
He is driven and focused and thinks the only treasure he is destined to hold is the one stolen from his people. He couldn’t be more wrong. A chance stop in a magical place called Rivendell and his life is transformed forever by the most beautiful lass he has ever seen.

    Cheers, bccmee!
    Elaine

@Elaine: Wow, you are quite the writer! I knew you were a great photographer, but I didn’t know you were so multi-talented! Thanks for your time and talent. 🙂

  4. servetus says:

Beardy Love!! That’s the one I want to read. 🙂

  5. “Thorin Oakenshield–a King among Dwarfs–just wants to be loved, understood, and accepted for who he truly is. But this House of Durin King in exile has yet to understand himself and he goes on a quest to discover the true meaning of leadership. But along the way, he faces miles to go, trials before Elves, and piles of gold to reclaim for his people.

Can Thorin be a leader of men *and* a lover of a woman? What woman is willing to put up with Thorin’s buddies who have more complicated hair and makeup than she does? The answers–or more questions–lie within these pages of fantasy and adventure. The tale awaits your imagination to bring it to life.”

Our story is written by Windy Mountainsong–so named because he was gassy and banished to the great outdoors. Forced into solitude–or at least being upwind of his companions–Windy also likes farms and ham.

  6. Thorin was already regarded as a hero, following the Battle of Azanulbizar and when he claims his title of King Under the Mountain, his share of female attention only increases. Even his friends pressure him to take a wife soon to secure an heir. Thorin is reluctant though, for Dwarf marriage is forever and not a decision to be taken lightly.
He hopes to delay his choice a little longer by leading a party of Dwarves to look for new Iron deposits but while on the journey, they come under attack by Orcs and Thorin makes the shocking discovery that one of his guard, Separ, is actually a woman who has been mascaraing as a male.
Proud and unwilling to be ‘coddled and petted’ Separ insists on fighting along side the others even once her identity is revealed and Thorin is taken with her strength and courage.
The battle with the Orks is long and bloody. Can they defeat this deadly foe and live happily ever after, or will Fate intercede and take one of them, just as they may have finally found happiness with each other?

Okay, it’s not my best blurb, but it’s short notice!

PS. love the cover and Beardy Love 😀

  7. judiang says:

You beardy horde lot have no shame. (But I would so read the books too.) 😀

  8. DarkJackal says:

“Does anyone find fur face attractive?” you ask. Indeed, but part of the beauty of the plot is I doubt there will be females within leagues of Thorin for much of the story. Far from making this less romantic, to me it only increases Thorin’s attractiveness. For one thing there won’t be a female character for the writers to have Thorin make a million poor decisions over. Nothing less sexy than a man being an idiot over a woman, which too many of RA’s character have been doomed to do.
And the other good thing about lack of females=lack of competition! When I am watching the movie I can be secure knowing Thorin only has eyes for a rock, a pile of gold, and possibly a shorter than average dwarf cheerleader! 🙂

  9. luciana says:

    Lol!!!!

  10. gracie says:

Did you hear? The book has already sold out on Amazon. LOL. Underneath that beard, that dwarf looks a lot like Marion. She better love him right this time. lol

  11. Brooke says:

Is there a written story out there some where? Haha. This is a project for someone who writes.

  12. The Queen says:

and I’m betting that someone is working on it as we type!

  13. Nat says:

I just searched for it on Amazon, but unfortunately, ’twas not there! 🙂

  14. Lady Prisca says:

Yes The hobbit misses of women and it’s a pity because Thorin is very sexy. Perhaps because of his fur coat . In one episode Guy had a fur coat and it was very lovely. This book is a very good idea Bccmee.

  15. Mulubinba says:

“The years lengthened. The embers in the heart of Thorin grew hot again, as he brooded on the wrongs of his House and the vengeance upon the Dragon that he had inherited. He thought of weapons and armies and alliances, as his great hammer rang in his forge; but the armies were dispersed and the alliances broken and the axes of his people were few; and a great anger without hope burned him as he smote the red iron on the anvil.” J.R.R. Tolkien: “Return of the King Appendix A: III: Durin’s Folk” p 358.

…. but there was one who watched Thorin as he worked at his anvil. Meralonna would watch and hope that he would one day notice her. If only she could turn the energy he had for vengeance upon the Dragon into passion for her. She yearned for his love. Perhaps if she disguised herself as a male, she could accompany him on his Quest, earn his respect and ultimately his love.

  16. April says:

“Is it just me, or does anyone else find Thorin Oakenshield sexy ?”

No, it’ not just you : Thorin IS sexy… swoooon… 🙂

  17. Luciana says:

Guess it’s going to be difficult to choose the most criative option for the back of the book cover!!!

    • bccmee says:

@Luciana: Luckily I didn’t make a contest, hahaha! I considered it, but I know how talented the Richard Armitage community is, so I knew it would be too difficult to decide. 🙂

  18. Joanna says:

    ROTFLOL! Beardy love!:D What a wonderful cover,Bccmee!
For the first time I’m glad that sooner or later I can have a beard too.;)

  19. LOL!!! If I ever needed documents forged, you’re the one I’ll call on! You have mad computer skills!!!
We need to research if Thorin likes his woman’s chest hairy! If so, there are always chest toupees!

  20. lucylou says:

Just heading over now to amazon to pre-order “Beardy Love”, you lot are too funny for any more words.

  21. jasrangoon says:

LOL! Love the book cover. Where do I get my copy of “Beardy Love?” It would go straight to the top of my must read list. 😉 Some of these suggestions in the comments…I think there are some writers in the making!

    • bccmee says:

@jasrangoon: When I get my copy, it’ll be on the Kindle. Unfortunately that means I can’t get it autographed by Windy Mountainsong. 😉

  22. fitzg says:

Great stuff, Gratia! That was GOOD! As for fuzz, I like it. Nice beards are good, too. Mulubinba, I doubt Thorin is ever going to notice any of us. Oh well.

    • Thanks Fitzg!
And beard, designer stubble, or clean shaven–I like all of these RA incarnations.

I think we need an R2D2 robot unit we can send to the Misty Mountains with a holographic message to Thorin. Thorin might just think that this strange metal beast–R2D2–is a new wizard. And since Thorin isn’t buddies with the “human like” wizard Gandalf, maybe R2D2 might hold sway with Thoring. Of course, we just have to hope that Thorin listens to the message before he melts R2D2 down to make more swords.
Cheers! Gratiana (vying to portray Meralonna)

    • bccmee says:

@fitzg: If we all grow beards, perhaps he will notice us! 😉

  23. april73 says:

I think that my and my friends would be the only ladies who will swoon in the movie theater when watching the movie.

Other people, who don’t know Richard (he’s not very known in Switzerland) may said : these girls are swooning for a dwarf ? Are they crazy ? lol lol lol

  24. vec170203 says:

Fantastic, I would definitely read that book.

    • bccmee says:

@vec190203: With any luck, there will be even more Thorin fanfic by the talent in the community. In the meantime, I’m going to check out the two stories linked above when I get a chance! 😀

  25. fitzg says:

Soccer, bcc mee, or if you wish to be English – football. 😀

    • bccmee says:

@fitzg: Sometimes I get Google alerts for soccer/football because apparently there’s a professional player with the last name “Armitage” LOL!

All these synopses are amazing! Love it!

  28. Ania says:

As they say, you cannot judge a book by its cover, but your cover is brilliant!!! 🙂 And if I saw this book in a bookstore, I’d buy right away.:)
BTW, I love fanfics, and proposed above are really worth reading.

    • bccmee says:

@Ania: Hee hee, glad you enjoyed it, thanks! I’d pick up a copy too…anything with RA on the cover is coming home with me. 😉

I hope I have time to read those fanfics soon. I’m sure hoping more are coming too!
