February Challenge – bad boy, bad boy!

Whatcha gonna do when he comes for you?

Here’s someone you don’t see at your door every day.  It’s John Mulligan from the “Drowning Not Waving” episode of the Moving On series.  Once again, Richard Armitage did a fantastic job in his role.  And he looked gorgeous.  Have you seen that program?  I don’t usually like the “bad boy” characters, but John Mulligan was so lovely to look at, I could forget his flaws, especially since they were fictional, LOL! I would not be so forgiving in real life.  😉

Today’s four gorgeous images come to us from Carolyn.  Thank you very much, Carolyn!  It was fun to work with a rarely-seen character.  😀

In our banner today, I used all four images to try out some ideas.  I learned a lot working on this project, including the fact that Adobe Flash has four different settings for audio.  Synchronizing sound to video had been giving me problems so hopefully this new discovery will help in the future.

I played around with text again, in a different way than yesterday.  The short music clip comes from the song “Is Is” by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

Please click the image or text link below to view the animated Flash banner with sound.

I wish you a great weekend. We’ll see each other on Monday with our final February Challenge project.  I’ll be posting at least once a week after that until FanstRAvaganza.

I love John Mulligan “Mully” I’d make you a “full English” honey!! That cheeky grin get me every time. Great work Bccmee, enjoy your w/ends everyone.

  2. Luciana says:

I guess the ‘problem’ with RA characters is that most of us are ready to love all of them and forgive them for anything bad they did … it’s so easy when all look so gorgeous!!! LOL
Once again, thanks Carolyn for the beautiful choices and Bcc for the lovely banner!!!

    • Lady Prisca says:

It’s true that we forgive many things to the character because of Richard. But I think that we have to take the problem back to front : when a director need an actor to play a man that is , in the same time , charming and dishonest , a man we could love even we doubt of him , the director have to think about Richard. Because Richard is moving ,he seems sensitive , wathever he does (it’s in him).

      • bccmee says:

@Lady Prisca: Good point! Richard Armitage is very gifted at taking sleazy characters and providing a reason to like them. Since he seems to become the character, he finds the motives behind the negative actions.

    • bccmee says:

@Luciana: He truly looks spectacular in this role. I would enjoy just looking at him on my living room couch, LOL!

  3. gracie says:

Darn that man has a deliciously wicked smile. Bccmee, you know exactly what images and music to use to get us in a tizzy. It is a good thing you use your power for good!lol

  4. jacqui_coinyard says:

Cool the ‘1970s’ effect with the letters!

  5. CDoart says:

John Mulligan, my favourite bad boy ;o) Hmmm….
He even challenges Lucas North and John Porter in my favour and that means something ;o)
What wonderful effects and perfect banner, bccmee. Thank you very much !!!

  6. Hi Bccmee,
I’ve yet to see RA’s Drowning Not Waving performance but I can’t wait! Your flash banner was delectable teaser that makes me want to see it all the more.
    Cheers! Grati ;->

    • bccmee says:

@Gratiana: I do look forward to hearing your reactions when you get a chance to see it. I enjoyed it immensely although I’ve only seen it twice because he’s such an unsavory character. But oh so beautiful! 😛

    • phylly3 says:

Oh! Grati you must see it! It’s on Youtube. That’s the only way I could see it so far. Perhaps not the best way to view it but better than nothing. The final scene is one of his BEST!

  7. Kate Patrick says:

Another fine work of art, and your subject must be so easy to work with! Everything is going to look great with Mr. A as the leading man! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

    • bccmee says:

@Kate: With such beauty before me, the biggest difficulty is concentrating on the technical aspects, LOL! Thanks so much and I wish you a lovely weekend too. 😀

  8. Musa/Fabo says:

John Mulligan – he had me at the white flag through the letter box. RA can always make his bad guys human and makes us care. (Agree he is also gorgeous as JM).

Thanks Carolyn and Bccmee – great way to start the holiday weekend.

  9. Ania says:

Delightful banner Bccmee! Oh Carolyn chose the captivating pics. 🙂
RA as John Mulligan was amazing, charming and dangerous. Amazing because every glance, every little gesture of the characters was important in this film, oh I’d really like more similar roles as JM for RA. Great weekend for everyone!

  10. Lady Prisca says:

Thank you Carolyn for the good choice of John Mulligan. Until the end of the episode I would trust he was innocent and I don’t think he’s totally bad. The pics you have chosen are great , Richard is verrrrry handsome.
Bccmee as always it’s welldone , I love very much the music. The work with typography is very interesting. Bravo!

    • bccmee says:

@Lady Prisca: It’s fun to try to find little clips of music that I can try to loop. I’m still learning how to work with sounds but it’s quite an enjoyable process. Yes, the lovely pictures of Richard Armitage as John Mulligan make things even more pleasant! 😀

  11. Brooke says:

I don’t usually like the “bad boy” roles either. Why haven’t I watched Moving On Yet? Haha. I like your Flash banner and the choice of song.

  12. itsjsforme says:

    Another winner! Thanks bccmee!!!!!!!

  13. My impression of John Mulligan was the same as yours, tho I love bad boy Guy, but he is sooooo appealing in this role that I had to watch. Your flash banner is fabulous and Carolyn’s choice of pics, perfect. Charming and devilishly bad to the bone 🙂

    • bccmee says:

@jeanniegisborne: Delighted you enjoyed the banner. Yes, John Mulligan is so intriguing. I think I’ll convert the program so I can watch it on my iPod! 😀

  14. Carolyn says:

Thanks, Bcc Mee! I love what you did with the pics! I think what was so compelling about this program is that Richard did play it so convincingly, that you didn’t want him to be a bad boy. It made a greater effect when you found out he really was bad, after seeing how charming he was.

    • bccmee says:

@Carolyn: Well-said! Richard Armitage did such a great job that you wonder if his character could have done those things. I’m so happy you enjoyed our collaborative effort and I thank you very much for the great images! 😀

  15. jasrangoon says:

I’ve never been into bad boys, but Richard Armitage sure has changed that! Love the banner. The words running across the images is a cool effect. Bravo, bccmee!

  16. RA’s performance as JM was superb and he succeeded in making us slightly uncomfortable. I think your flash banner succeeds, in turn, in expressing that subtle uneasiness we feel with that character!

  17. Debra says:

Thanks, Carolyn for the great pics….and Thanks, Bccmee for another terrific banner!!!
John Mulligan is one of my favorites but, then again, Richard has never done anything less than top notch. I wanted to believe JM was innocent but deep down I knew he was a bad boy….but I didn’t care!!! I loved the ‘morning after’ scene in the kitchen where he stretches so beautifully ….*sigh*…..

    • bccmee says:

@Debra: Well-said! JM seems so charming that it is difficult to believe he is capable of those actions. That’s due to RA’s talent. Thanks so much for your lovely comment!

      • yelloweeee says:

I agree! Muliagan is a very effective charmer, and you kinda get sucked into liking him just as Ellie does. RA plays it all so well! I even kinda felt a liitle sorry for him in the morning after scene.

  18. yelloweeee says:

Just had a look at the last few days of february’s graphics. Love them all. Don’t know how you did it, but they’re all great. Especially the word effects in the John Porter one, and the dissapearing effect one 🙂

  19. Beachbaby says:

Just love it Bccmee 🙂 Gorgeous Mully, without the annoying piano music!
The dinner scene – he looks so wolfish and when I first saw it I knew he was up to something 😉

    • bccmee says:

@Beachbaby: You’re a better judge of chaRActer than I am! I was completely taken in. 😉 LOL re: the piano music. I’ll have to watch the show again to refresh my memory. Thanks so much for your comment!

  20. April says:

    Lovely pic Carolyn.

Bravo Bccmee, I love it. 🙂

  21. Thais says:

I’ve never seen this series, can you believe it? Your post and everybody’s comments made me want to watch it! What a great effect in this Flash banner! I really enjoyed it! 🙂

  22. phylly3 says:

Excellent! I do love RA’s performance in this show. He makes John Mulligan unforgettable.

    • bccmee says:

@phylly3: I totally agree about RA’s talent. He helps us get inside John Mulligan’s head to make him a much more complex character. Thanks so much for your comment! 😀

  23. Joanna says:

    Gorgeous banner,Bccmee!:)Thank you!
He is not marriage material but I could let him crush my finest linens.;)
