October animated gif challenge – day 8

We have completed the first week of our animated gif challenge!  The time is flying by for me and I’m thrilled at all your excellent input. As I said to a friend, you’re doing the hard part.  😀

Today’s request comes from CDoart. In case you don’t know her, she is running a website in support Richard Armitage’s dream of doing of a Richard III project. There are already 479 signatures on her petition.  You can check it out if you are interested: Richard III Project.  She is also sponsoring a Fan-Art Event. Anyone is welcome to submit: writers, vidders, artists, you name it!

The animated gif of the day features gorgeous but wicked John Mulligan from the “Drowning Not Waving” episode of Moving On from 2009.   Once again, Richard Armitage gives a tour de force performance.

Richard Armitage as John Mulligan

The scene CDoart requested was John Mulligan in prison, looking up hopefully.

Here is your animated gif:

Richard Armitage as John Mulligan

The text “He’s so busted” came from Dhana.  Since it gave me a chuckle (or an evil laugh), I included it.  😀  I love to hate Richard Armitage’s nasty characters.

There’s that lovely neck again.  What’s to become of us?  😉

By  the way, the month is booked up.  Although there are no more spaces available for requests, hopefully we can think up some future challenges.

Love your animated gif! Thank you so much, Bcc Mee!

  2. Faboamanto says:

What a great idea from CDoart and Dhana. RA’s eyes so powerful in the scenes in prison. Another big bad John role for him.
Great gif BCCMEE, you capture that moment with his lovely hands, long fingers….ah…

  3. Lady Rose says:

Ooh. Haven’t seen this, but I still love it and have re-watched it about twelve times already.

  4. IngeD3 says:

    Ah, those lovely hands… *sigh*

  5. phylly3 says:

That scene (the last in the story) is one of his best performances EVER. I was blown away by the way he can say things with his eyes that are not the same as what is coming out of his mouth. That part, until the end is a scene I had to rewind many times and I continue to watch it with awe! I should have suggested the ending because that last couple of seconds his eyes look so sad, like all hope has left him!
Thanks CDort for suggesting the Drowning Not Waving scene. It is a wonderful gif, bccmee which I will treasure!

    • bccmee says:

Yes, I was so entranced with his eyes that I didn’t even notice his hands that others have mentioned. I must pay more attention. This will require long and careful study. 😉

Richard Armitage is an amazing talent. Thanks for your thoughtful comment, phylly3.

    • CDoart says:

Thank you, Phylly3. I totally agree with you, he is brilliant in that scene. The communication going on in his eyes and the difference to what he says, hmmm….
I don’t think I could bear repeatedly seeing him in the hopeless moment in a gif. It every time breaks my heart seeing him that way and I want to reach into the computer and comfort him. I can bear him better, looking dangerous and full of mischief.
Otherwise, I fear, I would for once demolish my computer myself to break into it to reach for him and after two defect ones, that is not an option for me this year ;o)

      • bccmee says:

Not only does Richard Armitage transform himself into another character, but we see his characters go through complete changes too.

Thanks for your comment and your excellent recommendation, CDoart!

    • Alfie says:

Exactly what I was thinking! You are falling into those eyes and suddenly wake up, when he speaks.

Beautiful gif – one more to my collection 😉

  6. Pamela says:

Mesmerized! He is incredibly sexy yet boyish in that scene. And his eyes are hypnotic! Richard is breathtakingly gorgeous as John Mulligan.

  7. Tereza says:

    Oh those hands…that neck…. that devilish face…OMG!

  8. CDoart says:

Thank you, bccmee !!! (I don’t think my computer has enough exclamation marks ;o)
    What a wonderful gif.
I could never have left him alone in prison, not giving him any hope of a further visit or support. I don’t know, how Ellie could do that, she must be very cruel and unfeeling, not to react to his gaze.
Though I think he knew her very well and played her excellently.
But what a deliciously dangerous sight he is ;o) Drugs, pah, he steals much more dangerous things like my heart ;o)

  9. I re-viewed Moving On recently after several months. I did not remember how good he was playing Mr. JM. I like the prison scene and the swing scene too. Delicious gif!

  10. judiang says:

I love all these gifs. Too bad I’m too shy to use any of them. 😀

  11. Ania says:

    Beautiful gif Bccmee!
Ah John Mulligan evil handsome. One of the most interesting roles played by Richard. Besides I think that there is no woman who knew how to resist his charm 😉

  12. Eileen says:

    Ooo…another sexy baddy! I like!

  13. So BAD to make a gif so GOOD! 😉 of course same credit to Mr. Armitage! The sparkle in his eyes while playing this character always throws me for a loop.

    • bccmee says:

I really can’t get over how well he plays this scene, Fanny/iz4blue! He’s often been called an “eye actor” and I totally agree with that term!

  14. Carolyn says:

His lovely neck and lovely hands! Lovely face as well, LOL! Thank you so much! I have been staring at it in a trance.

  15. Lady Prisca says:

Mmmh John Mulligan. Dangerous sexy baddy who seems to be a gentleman. I don’t think I would be abble to resist him (but in fact I don’t remember I ever have resisted a Richard’s character).

    • bccmee says:

The character certainly had me fooled at the beginning. He made a very believable turnabout in the end though. I can’t deny he was sexy all the way through though, Lady Prisca! 😉

  16. Elaine Dale says:

I’m not familiar with this production at all – but that scene is great!

  17. Teuchter says:

Thank you!! Another wonderful gif not to mention the accompanying photo! *Melts* Oh those elegant hands, the neck, the sexy eyes!!!! Did I mention the hands??????? 😀

  18. mersguy says:

oooh…I love John Mulligan, he fooled me too. Another powerful peformance by our lovely man. Ditto to “Teuchter” comments, those hands and his elegant neck, send me everytime! Eyes, face everything really…soooo sexy (swooning away now)

    • bccmee says:

RA was so impressive in this role. Very gradually we saw John Mulligan for who he really was and then whammo, he gives that amazing speech in prison. Thanks for your thoughtful comment, mersguy.

  19. kathryngaul says:

Is there a way to enlarge all these beautiful gifs, please? My eye sight is just fine but, boy, can I imagine the extra impact they’d have if just a little larger!!!!

I love reading the comments in all of these wonderful blogs ( I smile hugely to myself) – they really make my day.

But, now….I’m going to rub it in again for all you newbies to RA fascination:

I’ve been following Richard since he began his television career!!!!

I have recently re-watched “Cleopatra” in parts on YouTube and, yes, we did get that on television in Australia way back when! I have to admit that, back then, I actually watched the show to see some of the other actors whom I admired, but I did notice the gorgeous centurion who stayed close to Rupert Graves! And I can remember reading the end credits very carefully!

As I think I’ve mentioned previously, we have been lucky enough to see quite a number of shows made by the BBC and ITV, etc., on free-to-air television. We also seem to get the best of the American shows, too. I don’t even need to have pay television!!!

Sorry, I didn’t mean to skite (that’s Australian for “bragging” or “boasting”, sometimes in a mean-spirited sort of way). The word “skite” is pronounced “sky…..t”

Occasionally, there are shows that I’d like to see but can’t, so my son records them as he has pay television. Unfortunately (or fortunately some might say), I then have to visit his house so I can watch these shows as his recorder doesn’t have the capacity to transfer them onto a DVD, whereas mine does. But, of course, it’s suuuuuch a hardship for me to go to Matthew’s house…….I might even be expected to play with my darling grandbabies!

Absolutely brilliant gifs, btw. I’ve enjoyed every single one. Wish I was as talented as you other ladies. Someone will have to visit me one day and instruct me in making gifs and fanvids, etc!

      Hi kathryngaul
I’m still so new to the delights of Mr Armitage. I only dicovered him in April this year (I know, I cant beleive it either) during the ABC screening of Strikeback (I’m an Aussie too) and have trouble functioning as a normal person ever since, even more so now that our wonderful sexy beast of a man in NZ, so close!!
Busy playing catch up on all things “Armitage”

      • bccmee says:

@mersguy: I just re-read your comment. You’re the first person I know who has discovered RA from his role as John Porter! Woohoo! He’s my favorite character. So masculine and sexy, yum. ♥

    • bccmee says:

@kathryngaul: You have really good taste in actors! It’s remarkable that you saw RA’s talent so early on. How wonderful that you can see most of his shows on free TV but you have the option to visit loved ones and enjoy their paid programming. A win-win-win situation, LOL!

Thanks for your kind words on the gifs too. I appreciate all your support. 😀

  20. Oh what a sensual pair of hands! Thanks for sharing, as always!

  21. jules says:

Just catching up B missed 2 days gifs…I’m so envious after reading mersguy’s comment can you imagine having to catch up on all things RA…oh my I don’t think my heart would take it especially 3 series of RH and Spooks…gorgeous gif today…loved naughty but handsome John Mulligan xxx

    • bccmee says:

The first time is best, jules. 🙂 I still remember fondly my discovery of RA in The Vicar of Dibley 2-1/2 years ago!

Yes, John Mulligan is “naughty but handsome.” Well-said!

  22. Sexy AND bad. What a combo!
