Day 31 – How many days are in May?

Today’s Picture of the Day (POD) at RichardArmitageNet.Com:

You might wonder what’s going on with two wallpapers.  Some people like sharp and some people like soft.  Hence, two versions of the same composition.

On my computer, I’m using both as an “animated wallpaper” of sorts.  If you’re interested in doing the same, you can set them up as a desktop background slide show.  If you don’t know how to do this already, there is a link with instructions later in this posting.*

♥  Again, the POD is lovely! *sigh*  Because of Richard Armitage and his characters, I memorized how to make an ASCII heart, LOL!  ♥

The only problem with the POD is that Richard’s ear is cut off, like van Gogh. To fix this, I borrowed an ear from this Spooks promo picture:

Series 8 Lucas North Promo Picture

I used the Match Color command to make Lucas’ ear blend in with Richard’s.  😉

The shoulders were cut off too, so I added to them using this picture from the tv.com  Spooks interview:

tv.com Spooks interview

For a bit more color on the POD, I used the Seasons filter from Xero Graphics.  After rebuilding RA like the Bionic Man, I set out in search of a base for the background image and found an underwater light and bubbles image from Della-Stock on deviantart:

Since my last Richard Armitage wallpaper used the sky and clouds, this time I went with an other-worldly underwater image.  I wanted to add hearts because I couldn’t help myself, so I found a really cool set of brushes at photoshopsupport.com and used them for the heart-shaped sun and the smaller linked  hearts.

As an experiment, I duplicated the background layer and put it over the POD and set it to the Saturation blend mode  That made Richard’s cheeks and lips a bit pinker which was an unexpected and welcome effect.

Although it’s essentially a Richard Armitage wallpaper, I really liked this screencap from Spooks 7.5 so I incorporated it too.  I added hair and a shoulder by cutting and pasting from other parts.

Spooks 7.5 screencap

I wanted to include a full-body shot of Richard himself.  They are few and far between, but I found some on RichardArmitageNet.Com and chose this one because I liked the pose:

The text “I’d like to do something nice and calm and all about love” and “Richard Armitage” were done in the Journal and Mulder Handwriting fonts. I added an outer glow and a drop shadow.

Those are the components of my top wallpaper which is essentially a composite.  For the watercolor style one, I followed a very cool tutorial from abduzeedo.com.

These are the same wallpapers at 1440×900 pixels – click for full size:

*Here’s the link for instructions on how to set up a desktop background slide show in Windows 7: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/create-a-desktop-background-slide-show.  If you have a different operating system, you can Google for instructions or phone a friend.  😉

I’m eager for the day that Richard Armitage indeed does a project all about love! ♥ ♥ ♥

According to my calendar, this is the final Graphic a Day in May. It’s been really fun to learn some new techniques. I didn’t really intend for my posts to be full tutorials since I did not give my step-by-step procedures. It’s all right if you didn’t read my commentary; it’s essentially a journal of sorts so I can look back and remember my thinking process. There are lots of tutorial sites online along with books and videos if you would like to learn graphic editing.

I would like to give a warm fuzzy blanket “thank you” to everyone who visited my site, especially those who fully participated by commenting here, on twitter and/or facebook –sometimes all three! Also I appreciate the retweets and the links on facebook, blogs and websites. You really helped drive traffic my way. *HUGE HUGS* Also, I appreciate you requesting PODs which added to the interactivity and spirit of collaboration. It was really a lot of fun for me, even if sometimes you chose challenging pictures, LOL!

By the way, I do have a few surprises planned over the next few days. After that, my posts will be fairly sporadic so I urge you to subscribe to my blog so you don’t spend time checking for updates.

Very importantly, I want to give my massive thanks to Ali at RichardArmitageNet.Com.  She was so unbelievably supportive that I can’t express my gratitude enough.  When I approached her with my idea for A Graphic a Day in May, I explained that I wanted to use the Pictures of the Day because otherwise I would just use John Porter screencaps with an occasional Harry Kennedy thrown in, LOL! Thank you for everything, Ali.

NO. NO. NOOOOOO! I have on the best authority that May is now 365 days long. Yes, it’s true. All months of the year are now called May. May is a month of wonderfulness…green pastures, blooming flowers, sunshine, soft spring rains, birds twittering. We NEED it all year long! =0)

OK, I hear you. RL smacks us in the face once again. I’ve learned so much this month from you about graphics. Yeah, I’ll keep my day job, but it is fun to dabble, inspite of what a certain cotton mill owner says. *snort* And I’ve discovered a few new pics that had somehow escaped me. Can you believe it? And my computer now has a load of new graphics stored away in a nice safe place. All thanks to you, B! You are THE best!

Thank YOU, Bcc Mee! *hugs* You have made the days of May much happier with your gorgeous and, sometimes, funny graphics. I have had a lot of fun by visiting your blog every day of this month. I hope you’ve enjoyed making the graphics as much as we all have enjoyed waiting for them 🙂

  4. Ania says:

BccMee thank you for this beautiful month, which unfortunately has passed so quickly (a pity that so quickly). Since today May is not for me only the spring and the scent of flowers, but also yours beautiful graphics. ♥ Thanks so much for having sacrificed your time to post instructions. In truth I have not (yet 😉 ) Photoshop, but more and more come to the conclusion that it must be extremely interesting tool, which I’d like to have.
Today’s graphics is marvelous and is already my wallpaper 🙂 from which I can’t take my eyes (because those blue eyes so much to attract my attention *thud *)

When the FanstRAvaganza ended it was a shock to me. Another shock today, at the end of the Graphic a Day in May! You did a splendid and very hard work, and need some rest. Thanks so much for the beautiful Guys, Lucas, Richards, Johns and Harrys. Thank you for the humor and the romance of your beautiful graphics.
Thank you for the technical things we learned. Waiting for your next posts and surprises. Ciao!

  6. Ali says:

Aw is it over already? You’ll have to do this again one day, you know 😉

  7. Anakris says:

    Love it!
Can I propose “A graphic for every moon in June? Pleeeeeeeeeease???
    *hugs*

  8. Kaprekar says:

Brilliant stuff – and using a “to die for” pic too. I shall miss this. Thank you.

  9. Smithylass says:

Thank you for every single one of your graphics, it’s been a fun ride! I adore today’s POD so your graphics today are already among my favourites. Thank you again.

  10. smitkit says:

Have enjoyed AGADIM very much, B. Your graphics have been fabulous! My laptop still basks with its lovely Lucas wallpaper, with a JP one to follow at some time in the future. Even though I have little knowledge of PS, I have found your commentaries for each one very interesting. Thanks again!

  11. Meryl says:

the pic you have used today is one of my favourites, am so pleased it was included and it will be my screensaver.
Thank you B for all your graphics, each special in their own way and impossible to choose a favourite~love em all~but todays has to be up there!
Hope you decide to keep at it in some way, looking forward to what you come up with!

  12. CDoart says:

May flew by much too fast with your wonderful pictures. I absolutely cannot decide which one I like best, I just love them all!!!
I read each of your instructions and they were so wonderful to follow you step by step. Did you ever think about making instruction videos? I learned such a lot of things and got new ideas, though I will dubble in it and by far not reach your brilliance.
I adore each of your arrangements, which seem absolutely natural and with each image you added just what was missing before. You are a rare talent. Thank you for sharing your wonderful pictures and stories with us!!! I will very much miss May!

  13. Carolyn says:

Thank you for all the beautiful graphics this month! I really hate to see it end. This last is as lovely as all the rest! I look forward to whatever you can manage to find time to do!

  14. Jeannie says:

I agree with Novemberbride. May is never ending. Thank you so much, Bcc Mee, for all your hard work and love of your craft. I have enjoyed this month immensly:-))

  15. Teuchter says:

Talk about going out with a bang, bccmee!! What an absolutely beautiful wallpaper and a great way to end a wonderful month! And when the picture is enlarged – wow!! Those blue eyes are captivating to say the least. I could happily gaze at him all day – although I may have to ask the doc for a higher dose of my blood pressure medication if I do 🙂 So I add a “Yes PLEASE!” to his idea to do something “nice and calm and all about love”!! Hope we don’t have to wait too long. It would certainly be a nice antidote to some of the other things he has been in that have caused us such a lot of grief 😦 Come to think of it the outcome of the next three won’t cheer us up much either. *Sob* One good thing to come out of them will be seeing him on a really BIG screen!! *Loud cheering* That will make up for a lot of it – hopefully.

  16. Ana Cris says:

Thank you for your work. It was amazing!

  17. tyme4t says:

AHHHHH What a lovely way to spend a month and you are certainly ending it on a high note with another lovely and amazing creation.
Thank you for all the work you have put into this! I hope you enjoyed doing it!

And yes another poem just for you B!

    Limerick for B

    For thirty-one days in May
You promised to make our day
    With a few layers here
And a bit of colour there
You made us all swoon for RA!

  18. Teuchter says:

    Love it, tyme4t!!

BTW – isn’t the message “NO ESCAPE” on the wall beside him in the latest photoshoot most appropriate?? 🙂

  19. phylly3 says:

Beautiful underwater colours and all so luverly! 🙂
Thanks for sharing all your creative endeavours this month with us. I have never been more unhappy about the end of May…

    • NovemberBride says:

@Phylly…Amen sister. Think I’ll go to my corner and sulk for a while. Altho June may pan out better than we think? I mean she DID say she had some “surprises” right?! Oh joy. Maybe I won’t sulk for quite so long after all. But what WILL I do first thing tomorrow AM? Maybe I’ll just playlike it’s May 1 and start all over. Yes, I am talking to myself. Again.

I’d just like to add that not only has B made some lovely graphics and encouraged some of us to “dabble” a bit on our own, but she’s inspired me scrapbooking-wise also. Who’d a thunk it?! Thanks again!

  20. lesleyann says:

This is the best yet (have I said that before???) definitely melting behind my desk – hope nobody notices at work that I’ve got fuzzy edges now. Thank you so much Bccmee for brightening up May – I do think that May has been extended though for at least another 30 days!

  21. HellsBells says:

You are a real artist, bccmee! Thank you very much for the gorgeous graphics, and I loved reading the explanations.

  22. RAFrenzy says:

I didn’t comment as much as I would have liked, but I have to comment here and say this was fantastic. I really, really loved the teaching aspect of it. I even broke down and bought photoshop. : D

  23. bccmee says:

Wow, you stuck with me for the entire month. I was worried you might get bored and leave! Yes, May is over but I laughed out loud at the “graphic for every moon in June.”

I do hope some of you start to “dabble” in Photoshop or another graphics editing software. It’s a great outlet. My early efforts were laughable, but not in a good way. 😉 I’m also delighted, and pleasantly surprised, that some of you benefited from my explanations. I felt I had to write something and I didn’t know what else to say!

The limerick was brilliant and that’s a keeper! I’m always in awe of people who can write.

It’s so wonderful to be in a warm and supportive “little community.” I can feel the love. And when Richard Armitage appears on the big screen, look for me in the front row of a Times Square movie theater so there is nothing between his image and me! Then I’ll probably run home and make some graphics. 😉

  24. Teuchter says:

Are you sure you’re legs will still carry you after seeing him there?? I’m afraid I’m going to find myself rooted to the spot and have to be carried out!! How embarrassing for whoever is coming to the theatre with me!! 🙂

  25. Bcc Mee, Well, since I found you mid-month, I can enjoy this for a little while longer. The first of the month will be new to me! 🙂 This has been a fun diversion and you are clearly very talented with the pics. I loved the pictures in this post!

Hi Bcc. I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed gazing at/admiring/ogling your graphic-a-day creations. 😀

Apologies that it’s taken me until now to comment, but thank you very much for sharing your graphicky skills with us. They’ve all been fabulous!

  27. Nat says:

A Graphic to Swoon in June? 🙂

I like the “sharp” one best. Hubba hubba.

  28. Hi Bcc,
your work really amazes me! I enjoyed your graphics very much and I am excited to see what you will come up with next month 🙂
On top of that, Richard has stunningly beautiful eyes, a pleasure to look at him…
