Today’s Picture of the Day at RichardArmitageNet.Com is dedicated to Annie Vickery:

Picture of the Day, 18 May 2011

Here is your Graphic of the Day:

For today’s graphic, I decided on a treasure map theme.  Using an old paper background, I roughened and darkened the edges, added an old map compass, desaturated (removed the color from) Guy, but then added some blue back into his eyes.  Since Guy’s face took up so much of the graphic, I didn’t put in much text.

Here are my layers:

I created the torn edges using Filter/Brush Strokes/Spatter on an old paper texture I found

To keep with the map theme, I added an old compass

The font is "Pieces of Eight" with several effects applied such as Bevel & Emboss

I used a large soft brush to create a light

I darkened the borders slightly by painting brown on a new layer

At the last minute, I decided to add an outline map of the UK

I made Guy black & white and later applied the Color Burn blend mode

Happy birthday, dear Annie! ♫ ♫ ♪
