Graphic a Day, 13 May 2011

Today’s Picture of the Day (POD) at RichardArmitageNet.Com is dedicated to Bo:

Picture of the Day, 13 May 2011

Here is your Graphic of the Day:

Lucas Blue

The screenshot from the POD was very dark and intense. In my siggie, I decided to give Lucas a flashback to a heroic moment–when he is attempting to save lives. At its best, Spooks had tension and action which I wanted to incorporate in this graphic.

In addition to the Picture of the Day, I also used the following two screencaps from Spooks series 8:

Spooks explosion

Lucas explosion

For the siggie, I made the profile of Lucas blue and bumped up the color in the explosion. I also cut out the figure of Lucas in the explosion and placed him next to the text. Oh and I removed that flagstaff or whatever that thing was so it didn’t look like Lucas was pole-dancing. 😉 The font is Helvetica Neue.

Bonus Graphic: The sight of Lucas flying through the air in an episode of Spooks 8 really captured my imagination. Hours after that episode aired, I made the siggie below, which is one of my all-time favorites. There are obvious similarities but in one graphic, the flying Lucas is the subject and in the other, he’s the punctuation.  😉

Explosion Siggie

Note: The above siggie is posted on the Lucas North Signatures page at RichardArmitageNet.Com.

Still laughing over the pole dancing thing!! Intense is the best word I can thing of at the moment. The blue almost makes him frozen/almost evil (not sure why). The dark original flavors the atmosphere w/disturbance or maybe uneasiness. Ingenious use of the explosion, Lucas flying…that’s it. Batmanesque. He’s thinking “am I Bateman or Lucas…evil or good?” Intense. And brilliant.

Amazing how the color change may alter the expression of this picture.
    Beautiful as usual 🙂

  3. Anakris says:

The way you managed to combine cold with hot, as in the blue-Avatar-looking of RA with the explosive orange is, one more time, brilliant B. And intense. And love it 🙂

You did it one more time. You make a rather dark photo – outstanding actor’s expression anyway – come to life and light. Blue skin and blue fog both remind me Lucas’ extreme blue of the eyes of some photos. This flashback is really intense and emotional. Another great job of art!

    Lovely!

  7. CDoart says:

I love Lucas at the edge of the fire cloud and his blue, thoughtful look with the extra effect on his eyes, hmmm. What a great picture again!

  8. Alfie says:

    So intens – beautiful.

Today’s graphic is great! Love the combo of the blues & reds!
Also great “ending” in the finale sig!
I’ll be unplugged for the weekend – but I know by Sunday evening I’ll be getting anxious to plug back in to check out your work! Enjoy!

I really like this one! It has that ‘MI 5″ feel to it. I cracked up over the pole dancing thing, too:-))

  11. IngeD3 says:

    Lucas!!!!!!!! 🙂

  12. Pamela says:

The beauty of the contrasts in this composition complement Lucas’ beauty.

  13. bccmee says:

“Intense” is a good word to describe Lucas, especially in the POD scene. That was one of my favorite episodes as far as acting goes. While I’m one of the many who didn’t like the writing in season 9 of Spooks, I suspect that the actors enjoyed working with the scripts.

Thank you again for your lovely and thoughtful comments on this Lucas graphic. 😀

  14. Summer says:

Must have been difficult to decide what to with this one as it is so dark but with a great and intense screencap of Lucas. Like what you did adding so much colour and the explotion effect.
The Graphic Bonus is awesome! 🙂
